Your typical dance film where life is perfect and everyone is happy and dancing away?
Step up 2 is different. It follows the life of a teenage girl who loses her parents at a young age and is trying to find out who she is and where she fits in.
She is forced to live with a family friend and it shows her falling into the wrong crowd, joining a street crew called 41O who are linked to crimes in the area, with her career close to giving up on her, Andie is forced to either clean up her act and go to Maryland School of the Arts or moved away to Texas. Two choices which could completely transform her life.
As well as some amazing and breath taking dance routines and performances, there is a message hidden in this film which is about finding out who you are and staying true to that, as quoted from the film “because life’s too short to be anyone else”.
I personally saw this film and loved it. I had a massive interest in street dance around the time and watching this film made me more passionate for dance and made me want to improve and better myself all the time. The film also taught me a valuable lesson to never give up on anything and just to be me and to never let anyone change that.
Anyone who has a keen interest in dance I would recommend them to go and see this film, as it will not only inspire your dancing, but will keep you entertained for an hour and a half, with some insane dances and some funny moments that will make you giggle. The whole film builds up to the final moments and to the final dance routine; this alone is worth watching the film and definitely worth the wait.
The final dance in the movie is the most memorable for how powerful it was and for how mind blowing the routine was as it incorporated some challenging dance moves. The scene itself was entirely different, as it was filmed outside in the rain and the scene was lit not by normal lighting but instead using car headlights to create more of an urban street feel. It also gives the film a high point in which to finish on.
