Borderlandnoise Fest
Yesterday the media was invited to the Borderlandnoise Fest press conference. This festival will be held this coming Saturday August 31th at the facilities of Casa de la Cultura Playas de TIjuana, being a union of various producers and institutions to create an important multicultural and community platform that will have several alternate activities, starting this Wednesday 28 until September 2 both in Tijuana and Los Angeles, California.
Among those who were present were Jam Lemitz (curator of territorium-Tijuana.org); Haydee Jiménez (Borderlandnoise, Nett Nett), Heriberto Polanco (Simsa) and representatives of Border Angels, as well as artists who will be performing at the event. It was exposed that the festival is an important movement that not only includes music, but the meeting of organizations, activists and pacifists who are working around the current immigration situation in this region, evidently exposing the recent events that have been happening and their work to offer much needed support. A relevant activity is that the beginning of the festival will be a community meeting with open microphone for those who need to be heard. The idea is to search for creative solutions for non-violence and education.
Alternative activities include concerts, pop-ups, workshops and a welcome party, with the participation of renowed artists such as Ramon Amezcua (AKA Bostich from Nortec Collective), Sonidero Travesura, Braulio Lam and others. In the festival, the music will start at 2 p.m. until 1 a.m., with national and international exponents of cutting edge experimental electronic music. in addition to the early meeting and the music, they will have spaces for local food vendors, art exhibitions and local bussiness presenting their work.
