And to be completely honest, I finally upgraded from my regular RWS deck to a Universal Waite deck and I want to start using it~~

I can definitely try! I've only done a few life purpose readings before, but its only with practice that one gets better, no?

Quick tip before I start~ a life purpose reading is read like this:

Bottom card;

Left (angled) card;

Top card; and

Right (angled) card.

Strength (Major Arcana VIII)

Even before I get into the divinatory reading... The name of this card says it all. When it comes to your life purpose, you are strong and exuding power and strength. This is not through force, however.

~Like the young girl on the Strength card, you will assert yourself, and like the lion on the card, people will not cower before you - but will acknowledge your strength.~

Your Personal Life Purpose

Ten of Swords

Reversed

Whilst this card might look dark and might cause feelings of dread as one looks upon the body pierced with the ten swords, this is a beautiful card to receive reversed. No matter what life throws your way, nothing is permanent. Everything will come to pass, and you will be stronger for it.

~This card speaks to power and authority. Just like the Strength card also announced, you have a strong soul, and a position of authority would suit you.~

Your Life Purpose in Your Family/Community

Page of Wands

Reversed

The Page of Wands, when reversed, signifies a wall - a blockage of some sort. Just like the other Pages, this probably reflects a literal person in your life, and as this relates to family/community, this feels even more accurate an interpretation. There is instability and the need to be heard.

~Your purpose will be to learn to listen to both children (or child-like figures) and partners, as your own enthusiasm might come in between you.~

Global Life Purpose

Queen of Swords

Upright

This is not the happiest card, I'm afraid, but some good does come of it. The Queen of Swords is familiar with sorrow and loss, but she stays strong (especially when combined with the Strength card) and keeps her head held high.

~You will face trials and tribulations, and whilst you might not understand it then and there? Later on in life, just like the Queen still extends her hand out to the world, you will be able to help others who have suffered in the same way.~

The Hanged Man (Major Arcana XII)

Whilst the Hanged Man usually represents sacrifice, its reversed counterpart mostly represents selfishness. When you looked at the reversed card, it almost does appear as if the man is basking in the glory of his actions – he hasn't done it selflessly. This, however, is not necessarily a bad thing. One may be both selfish and acting for the betterment of all.

~Don't be afraid to do things because they make you feel happy/good. Don't be afraid of being selfish, sometimes.~

FUTURE

The Fool (Major Arcana 0)

Upright

As most people can guess, this upright card is often interpreted as depicting folly and extravagance. These are often seen as negative in society, but this is not necessarily accurate. An upright reading of this card does not show signs of negligence or vanity. The Fool is intoxicated by life, blocking out the malice of the world.

~Don't sweat the small stuff. Look at the bigger picture. You are stronger than you believe.~

Ah, very interesting. When the World card is found turned on its head, there is often a sense of stagnation.

Fear. Treachery. These two words come up immediately with this reversed card. Traditionally, this card was read as "an enemy is at the gate – and couldn't have done so without knowledge from the inside". Nowadays, this reading is not exactly helpful if we take it literally... But these are cards that we are reading – they're not meant to be literal in the first place.

~Perhaps you are afraid that someone has broken your trust. Maybe it is time to question them about it?~

To be completely honest with you, this is one of those cards that I've always found hard to interpret - so I'll be reverting to the divinatory meaning relayed in my handy guidebook!

A crowned figure, having a pentacle over his crown, clasps another with his hands and arms; two pentacles are under his feet: "The surety of possessions, cleaving to that which one has, gifts, legacy, inheritance."

~I hope this makes more sense to you than it does to me!~

PRESENT

Three of Swords

Reversed

You may be experiencing difficulties presently - you feel confused about what you are doing. Maybe you feel distracted, like everything around you is in a state of disarray.

~Do not let yourself be overwhelmed. This will come to pass.~

FUTURE

The card's upright reading is quite interesting because such an interpretation usually only comes in a reversed form. As one can see from the image, the young man seems unsatisfied with the three cups in front of him, and a fairy-like hand offers him a fourth... But he doesn't look up.

~It may seem like things aren't going your way, which is reminiscent of your Present card, but try and take a moment to reevaluate your surroundings. Maybe what you think you're missing has been there all along.~

Just as the sun can bring us happiness, so does the Sun card - whether it be through general contentment or material possessions.

~This does not necessarily mean that you will come to have more (as previously stated in the Past)... But you are learning to appreciate what you do already have.~

FUTURE

King of Pentacles

This is an ugly reversed card. (Literally, I remember that in my guidebook it says that this reversed card is ugly, ha.) It's really perverse and speaks of some trying to guide towards peril.

~Be wary of those you that you will surround yourself with. Just like the King's face is obscured, some people might hide their true selves just to play on your weaknesses, try to corrupt you... - all for their entertainment. You deserve better. (And just so you know... That King might be yourself. This card helped me realize just how self-sabotaging I was. Food for thought.) Also, if we make a connection with your Present card, it might be someone's jealousy at your happiness...

TL;DR - Basically? Cut out toxic friends and habits.💕~
