“Are you sure you don’t want to take the kids?” he asked once more. He pulled the phone from his ear to save his eardrums from the angry decibels. “Fine,” he muttered.
Tossing the phone beside the binoculars on the bed he muttered “stupid fool.”
He walked back to his laptop, rubbing his chin unwilling to let go of the goldmine that could be had with this one family. Four kids that would go for millions. The dad wasn’t bad either. He ran a finger of Jonah’s picture. He could see the man’s allure. He was older than most boys he dealt with but he could still make a profit off him.
The blind dragon would most definitely be dead once the boss finished with him. Perhaps he could save the dragon if only to maximize his own profit. He knew a buyer that liked rare specimens. The boss once he was preoccupied with his pets would be easy to kill.
He sat down to draw up plans. He knew once the boss was out of the way the others would follow him. He already had an idea where he’d set up shop and selling this family would finance it nicely. He already had potential buyers lined up. All he had to do was deliver the goods.

“Unknown Man Found Dead on Railroad Track,” Toronto Globe. July 25, 1931. Page 12. ---- (Special Despatch to The Globe.) Cayuga, July 24. - The body of an unknown man was found on the M.C.R. tracks one mile west of Cayuga this forenoon, and was taken to Nagel’s funeral emporium at Cayuga. His skull was fractured and the right arm nearly torn from the body. The right led and a left rib were also fractured.
He was between 30 and 35 years of age, with blue eyes, brown hair, clean shaven, and small scar on the left temple, and was wearing a navy blue coat and shirt, dark grey trousers, black socks, and low black shoes.
His pockets contained a razor, comb, handkerchief, and a five-cent piece. A small empty canvas bag around his neck might have been used for carrying money.
