I've written a few chapters ahead of time (woo!) so I'm hoping to get a chapter out a week. Content warning: this is definitely a little darker than I'm used to- depression and alcoholism is referenced.

Chapter Four
We finally find out why Lily is in town and we get a little cameo from a certain Marauder...
Lily hasn’t told Marlene yet. She’s not sure why - her friend will be over the moon; but the pressure sits there heavy on her chest, telling her to keep it to herself just for another day.
She’s staying at Marlene’s flat for the weekend, a small one bedroom just a few blocks away from campus. Marlene’s lucky - her father’s a banker and can afford to fork out the extortionate rent for such a small place in the middle of London. Something Lily will have to tackle if Monday goes well.

Chapter Five
I know a lot of you are on the edges of your seats, wondering what happened in the past...we finally get a glimpse of Lily's past in this chapter! enjoy!
Lily's settled into the- wake up, study, eat the bare minimum, study- routine quickly. She’s still sleeping on Marlene’s couch by week 4 - her flat searching futile and the dorms out of the question. Starting in Semester two was a slight curveball in logistics as well as making friends. Majority of the students in her course were paired or grouped up already, and Lily always felt like she was infiltrating friend groups when she came across larger groups. She does love the work though, loves problem solving, the magic of learning science still hasn’t lost its spark. Learning at a university level is above and beyond learning at her local college. She gets to use sparkling labs and impressive equipment, she gets to listen to top lecturers and gets to lose herself in the towering bookshelves of the library.
Marlene loves her being around, no matter how much Lily can see she’s encroaching on her personal space. The flat isn’t big, and Lily’s had Marlene huff multiple times by taking too long in the bathroom. She does however love Lily’s cooking, which is probably half the reason Marlene hasn’t sticky taped for lease notices on her forehead while she sleeps.

a work in progress - one in which I've set out to write as angst riddled as possible and its started out already like this...
“Right, Lily.” She greets, holding out her hand. His large hand envelopes hers and all she can think is ‘why is a fifteen year old boy's hand so large?” Before she knows it, he’s let go and is offering her a game of beer pong.
“Sure.”
She’s never played beer pong before, so she stares at the table dumbly.
“Ever played?” James prompts, setting up the cups in a pyramid formation.
She shakes her head and chances a glance at the handsome boy beside her, he smiles and its earth shattering. It's such a normal friendly smile, that she’s shocked at why she’s so shocked by it. She smiles shyly, and tips the rest of cider back, wishing the liquid would unstick her from her sudden infatuation with James Potter.
