I am SO EXCITED you ask! (thank you 😘)
My original character came after I buried my nose into the giant pile of existing characters without any information attached. For my story, Unmask Yourself, I decided that I needed a few characters from each main village. So that's how I got my hands on Ruka - a character from Kiri who existed only in the anime (I didn't see her in the manga) and, as far as I read, appeared very briefly. A med-nin, a healer 💚 - something I was quite willing to work with. So I created a whole history for her, built her character, and put feelings into the mix.
In this story she was taken as a child from the village due to her useful hereditary ability and taught how to manipulate it in order to use it for undercover missions. She lost a dear friend (like many of the Naruto characters), and she ended up under Mei's wing (she's taken care of her as a fellow kunoichi and mentor, for Ruka was just a child at the time). For example, she has very low tolerance for alcohol, to the extent that it influences her personal ability (the hereditary one).
She has an identity problem and very few to no friends. She's too nice for her own good... but she's learning. She has confidence problems (except for her shinobi job), mainly regarding men.
And to make it more fun, I paired her with Shee, whom I also modified. I tried to keep his character the way we know him but also added to it: added history, behaviour explanations, and details from his past (created by my head), including a group of old women that raised him. He still keeps in contact with them (personally I found this very entertaining 😁). He also has problems (who doesn't?🤔) and opinions on how his life should turn out. And he's quite unwilling to let go of the image despite everything.
So these two are very interesting (to me) to work with and to see where their relationship (which doesn't quite exist yet) would lead.
