Monsters are pretty neat! and this town has plenty of them!

Unnaturals are otherworldly creatures that that possess supernatural abilities. They come through openings between the human world and the unnatural world known as fracture, and have been appearing since the early 20th century.

They come in all different shapes and sizes with a monstrous twist!

(There's also a Flora for plant based and Anomalous for one that don't fit the other categories. this chart is old lol.)

But unnaturals most distinguished feature is their glowing eyes that reflect the color of their cores! Cores are crystalized orbs of pure unnatural energy being that it essential to their being. Basically their heart. It allows them to be able to properly take shape in the human world and gives them their abilities.

Cores come in different colors, serving as a tell for how strong, rare, or dangerous they can be.

(based on the light spectrum, the more unnatural energy one has, the higher the core tier.)

Not all unnaturals are dangerous or hostile. Many are docile and live normally among humans. There's still so much about them to discover!

Their presence on earth seems to have affected humans in quite the interesting way! People started to gain supernatural abilities similar to unnaturals. And those type of people are known as potens.

A Pop of Color! Pt.1

I have been sticking to a "true" or "hard" maxis match style in my game (and really loving it!) but I was lacking some good colorful hair. These true maxis hairs have such character as it is, and adding a funky color just seemed to work perfectly! The colors I used are just my own creation, I personally hate having a billion color swatches to flip through so I just did 5! Download links & info below!

Note that I did NOT include meshes! I figured most probably would either want the naturals of these if they have not got them yet or if you do already have them you can easily just drop these recolors in with the rest. The Naturals/Mesh sources I have linked are just what is in my game, if you have another recolor version or whatever these should work just fine as long as its the same base mesh.

Hair Update: Unnaturals, Modeled.

Here are four updated(!) unnaturals, modeled in BodyShop.

I particularly like how Blacklight looks, so the instructions/steps for that one that I have written down will probably be official. I’ll have to see what Cherry looks like on the sim/hairstyle I intended it for. Johanna is also great and I really haven’t changed anything from the first version of it, and Pina’s Teal looks pretty good, I think. Anyway, this is all I can do in the recoloring world today, as I have lazy eyes and staring at bright screens doesn’t feel good. Expect more tomorrow! Or the day after maybe? I may be going on a small roadtrip. c:

The One-Night Truce

Wassup, it’s ya girl Heather back on her shit with the superheroes. So, i’m not gonna lie, I meant for this to turn out as a fight scene but...it took on a life of it’s own and now it’s a Moment between Nightquake and Jillian

Again, I still have no plot despite the characters and a rough, continuous universe which is great because it can be read out of order, but not great because who knows what’s going on? Not me

The streets were too quiet. An unnatural, hold-your-breath quiet. Jillian’s footsteps echoed like thunder as she crept through the shadows. She hated these days with every beat of her heart. The days where the air was saturated with dust and violence. Villains, heroes, who fucking cares what side people are on when the buildings fall in an explosion, when superpowers lead to damages that can’t be fixed?

A breeze blew through, dragging the whispers of an open apartment window with it. Whispers of a faint news report; the ones that haven’t stopped all day.

“...explosion at the city’s museum….around three am…..one dead….critical condition….mayor response scheduled for…”

Jillian shuddered. Even on the warm, summer night, she felt wrapped in ice. Their plan wasn’t supposed to end this way. They were villains not killers. Or rather, they weren’t killers.

She felt hot and cold at once. Restless. It was too quiet. Their city was holding their breath; more in fear than ever before. Because of them. Jillian tore at her hair, needing to do something, anything, with her hands. With the energy bubbling under her skin. Something to quiet the thoughts.

There wasn’t supposed to be anyone in the building. It was supposed to be empty. It was supposed to be a lot of things. They planned it carefully and it still wasn’t fucking enough. She turned down an alleyway. A scream built from somewhere deep within her. It stuck in her throat, choked on an angry sob.

No one was supposed to die.

Jillian lashed out. Fist snapping out, weight lurching. She didn’t stop until her fist collided with the brick wall. The impact jolted up her arm. She barely felt it. So she punched again, each slam punctuating her racing thoughts.

They knew the building wasn’t empty.

Thud.

And they still went through with it.

Thud.

It was planned, someone set us up, we didn’t stop, someone is-someone is-

Thud. Thud. Thu-

A warm hand wrapped around her wrist, stopping her punch mid-swing. Nightquake. “That seems like a good way to break your hand.”

She trembled. Kept her gaze on the bricks covered in a darker, thicker red. His voice was too soft, his grip too gentle. Between one heartbeat and another, her anger fled her. It only took one movement of his thumb drawing a soothing circle on her skin for her to break.

Anger was the only thing keeping her up. She crumbled without it. Nightquake steadied her before she could fall into the wall. She hung her head. Why was he holding her so gently? Why wasn’t he enraged? She was a villain, he’s a hero, the answer is almost elementary. A villain but not a..

A villain and now a…

She blinked back burning tears. “They made me a killer.”

Nightquake’s arm around her waist from where he steadied her tightened. His fingers fisting her shirt. When he spoke, all trace of softness was gone. “They made me one too.”

Jillian paused at the tone of his voice, far too angry and self-loathing to be a result from her side of the battle. No, the “they” he was talking about was someone else entirely. He seemed to guess at her hesitation because he shuddered, the movement traveling across Jillian’s back. She was torn between wanting to see his face and being eternally grateful she couldn’t.

“My side...they knew of your plan. Knew they could twist to their own politics.” He clutched her as if she was steadying him rather than the other way around. “They put a man in there, a criminal from the jails. He was awaiting trial. I...I was too late.”

Jillian rested a hand on his arm, nearly hugging her stomach. “So was I.”  This isn’t who her allies, her friends, her side were. They weren’t like the heroes, weren’t the ones who sacrificed people but apparently they were. A spark of anger flared in her blood.

She spun out of Nightquake’s arms, the words caught in her throat earlier suddenly flowing free. “I’m a villain. I’m not a murderer, we aren’t...we aren’t murderers.” It was imperative that he understood. Because no one else would believe them, would believe her now. Normally she didn’t care, -why should she when no one cares about her?- but right now there had to be someone, even if it’s the fucking prick who keeps showing up at the worst times, who knew the truth.

Nightquake simply looked back with the same fervent anger that she felt. One half of his lips quirked up in a humorless smile. “I know.”

The words rang hollow. It wasn’t good enough. It was still done. There was still blood in the rubble, blood on her hands. Why didn’t get she there in time? She snarled, turning to lash out. Damn heroes.. Damn villains and media and people and this entire fucking battle-

He caught her again. “You might need that hand.”

“I need to fight more.” She practically hummed with it. Hummed with the need to fill the street with any sort of sound, to release the breath she’s been holding, to just stop thinking for one damn second.

“You need to go home.”

She lurched away from him, from the idea. From the image of her base and the familiar faces there. The ones that didn’t stop their plans despite it. For the first time in her life, the thought of home made her want to retch. “No,” she gasped out.

He watched her, his expression carefully blank. It was a look that scorched her and made his loose grip on her wrist far too warm. It was a look that said he was thinking through a plan and that was reason enough to be cautious.

“Then stay with me tonight.”

Jillian froze. Blinked. She can’t have heard that correctly. Her thoughts screeched to a halt. “I-I’m sorry?”

Nightquake blew out a breath. Shook his head like he couldn’t believe what he was saying, but he continued on anyway. “You can’t stay out here, you can’t go back, and I’m absolutely not taking you to my headquarters, never minding the fact that I don’t want to go back there either. That leaves my place. You can spend the night there.”

“You-you have a house?”

“An apartment. I’m an Unnatural, I’m not rich.”

Jillian’s brows furrowed. “Why?”

He tilted his head, blonde hair flopping to the side.

“I’m a...and you are...so...why let me stay with you?”

He shrugged, his expression composed and unreadable once more. “No idea honestly.”

“You hate me. And I hate you. Why trust me?”

“I don’t. Which is why you’re only staying one night. If you want to try to kill me, go right ahead but try not to ruin my furniture or my sheets. I can’t exactly afford to buy new ones and blood stains are hard enough to get out.”

Belatedly, Jillian realized that she should’ve walked away by now. But between her base and Nightquake’s apartment...one was more bearable than the other. And frankly, she was too tired to fight. Rage had stolen her energy and even now, she leant most of her weight against the wall. One night at Nightquake’s wouldn’t kill her and even if it did…

She nodded, agreeing, before the rest of the thought could take hold.

Nightquake managed to summon an almost convincing smile. “Come on then. I’ve still got to bandage your hand.”

Jillian trailed after him, cradling her fist protectively. It wasn’t until much, much later that night that she realized that the too quiet streets had begun to hum with energy again. Somewhere during their conversation, the held breath was finally released.
