The sound of the river that ran under the bridge was soothing to listen to. Valerie perched at the edge, wrapping a ribbon on a bridge support so she wouldn’t fall. It sounded like someone under the bridge was singing, so she leaned over as far as she could.
“Woah-” Valerie clasped a ribbon over her mouth as she pulled with the other to regain her balance. She looked around, making sure no one saw that she talked. That was too close! After sighing with relief, Valerie got a whiff of the scent from the cafe. It had been a while since she last had a berry, and the scent of fried berries smelled so heavenly.
As much as I hate begging, I’ll need my strength to investigate the chasm.
