Family is the most important thing in the world to Hannibal.  Not other peoples families, of course, only his own – but he does value people with strong family values over the majority of people at large.  To Hannibal, anyone he may come to regard with strong feelings will be regarded as ‘family’ – the people he doesn’t want to be without.  Because that’s always been his understanding of family.  People that it hurts to lose.  People who impact and shape you.  He calls Will family because that is the strongest, most important bond that he has ever known.  To be called FAMILY is the highest title Hannibal can give someone in relation to him.  They are the only people in the world he doesn’t want to live without – to say can’t isn’t right, because he can.  But it would make existence hollow, leave more holes in the floor of his memory and he doesn’t want to do that.

     take this, for example : the misham poisonings. he wants to make sure absolutely no one can find out about his evidence forgery during the gramarye case, yes ? he attempts to kill off those directly involved ( in the case of drew ) or at least to assure that, if they try to speak up about it, there’s a mechanism in place that should immediately silence them ( in the case of vera ). one of these people is a child, and he still plants what is essentially a time bomb meant to poison her if she speaks out anyway. he watches anyone even tangentially involved, including faking a friendship with the man he despises more than anyone else on this earth, for seven years, and would have gone right on doing exactly that if he hadn’t gotten caught. when someone else related to the gramarye case resurfaces, kristoph immediately kills him without hesitation. this man DOES NOT TOLERATE loose ends. 

          —-& yet, there is someone very obviously related to the whole evidence-forgery incident that kristoph doesn’t touch, at least when it comes to literally attempting to kill him off or trying to ruin his entire life. ( manipulation’s a different story, but. that’s one for another day. ) everyone’s favorite rockstar prosecutor is still very much alive, isn’t he ?

Compared to his usual schedule, his time helping some of New York City’s finest was considerably more casual and much lower stress than being back in London. It wasn’t easy to be talking about these cases, having to see photos from scenes he’d been trying very hard to forget; it was for the greater good, however, and reliving some of his more painful moments would reap positive benefits. Getting Mike out of the office was for the ADA’s own good, but also HIS -- he needed to not be thinking about abductions and human trade rings.

“Dinner’s on me, by the way -- your pick, anywhere at all. I’d say somewhere causal might be nice, but I’ll defer to your judgment. I haven’t been to New York in years.”

Oh, he doesn’t expect absolution, in fact, that’s the last thing he even wants right now. What Rafael needs is someone to shake him out of the fog he seems to have found himself in, just enough so he can see to get his head on straight. So that’s why the clock chimes some obscenely long number signalling the late hour, and he’s at Cutter’s door. 

“I figured you’d say something like that.” It was different, though, SVU. There was something different about them, something that set them apart from all the other divisions he’d worked in. Maybe it was the kids, or the fact that every person he talked to was some sort of damaged, needed a special set of kid gloves that no other sort of ADA needed. “You don’t have to worry about that, Mike,” Jesus, did he think that little of him? That he’d go soft? 

Rafael melts onto the couch, feet up, sipping the bottle of water he’d brought with him. “It was a messy case, no one ended up happy, and I hated that I couldn’t make it go any better.” Fuck, feelings? Maybe Mike was right.

6. if questioned about their evil behavior, what excuse would your muse give to justify it?

he has a whole litany of them, so let’s start from the top :

when questioned, kristoph will use the ‘ evil human being ’ excuse first & foremost. simply put, he considers it a waste of his time to attempt explaining his motivations to those who are beneath him ( & therefore won’t understand ) – and he considers nearly everyone beneath him. basically, if he tells you this, what he’s saying is : ‘ you’re not worth bothering with. go away. ’

if pushed further, he’ll tell you that all he’s tried to do is even the playing field. prosecutors play dirty all the time ; they refuse to reveal important evidence to the defense before trials or falsify it outright, and the judicial system is ridiculously biased towards their winning. his own use of underhanded tactics is justifiable in that onslaught – he’s just trying to make the game that little bit fairer. ( & to take out the players he doesn’t believe deserve to be in it in the first place. )

if you somehow manage to break him down even more, you’ll find that he starts excusing things simply by the fact that he did them : he’s more intelligent than everyone else, after all, and so he knows best. whatever he did, it was for the greater good – otherwise known as whatever is good for him. he knows what he’s doing, and should just be allowed to get it done !  in the end, it’s best for everyone !

and that’s when you finally get to the heart of the matter : plain and simple, kristoph gavin believes anything he does is automatically justified, by virtue of the fact that he’s the one doing it.

042   .   what is their greatest achievement   ?

honestly, it would have to be graduating from trainee to agent. she worked hard enough, learned everything she could and whatever her trainers were willing to teach her. to finally become an agent was something she felt proud of because for one she wanted to do some good for the world. i think successfully completing her first assignment would be the next runner-up. even though she went rogue, i think it was something she’s always been proud of. 

062   .   what sort of legacy does your character wish to leave behind   ?

a legacy? if i’m completely honest, i don’t think she cares to have a legacy to leave behind. she’s not a hero, she isn’t “good” in a sense   —   i think whenever she dies she just wants to make sure that she takes down pandora with her. if her name kind of goes viral for it then so be it. but she really doesn’t want a legacy, just let the woman rest lmao.

     Mark narrowed his eyes, not turning toface the other for a few moments as he let the question sit. Hewasn’t sure. It felt more like a mix between morality andobligation. There was very much a chance that he wasfighting a losing battle, that the end result won’t be what hewas hoping for. What that was, he wasn’t sure, either.Still…

     Finally, he shook his head.
