I chose the name Basil when I came out as trans and when looking the name up I came across the movie The Great Mouse Detective. I never watched it before (my mother limited my exposure to media a lot) so I thought I’d watch it for the first time and write what I am feeling.

My thoughts so far, being on 6 minutes in, is that this movie is great and I love it.

The art style is beautiful, the zoom from human level to mouse level is done so well

I was sleeping when they announced the queen is dead. My sister texted me and in my half awake state texted back this

Two days ago was my one year anniversary on T. Next month I’m getting top surgery.

Hey I just wanna say I've seen your tags mention your surgery a few times lately, and I want you to know I'll be thinking of you and (hope this isn't weirdo of me to say?) saying a prayer for you to have such good doctors and nurses and a good speedy recovery. You're real strong, you got this.

Thank you! I’m pretty nervous so I super appreciate it!! I never had surgery before and my surgery is in like 5 hours.

Who was going to tell me Pixar’s Luca went that hard?

The acceptance. The found family. The two old lady sea monsters that also come out at the end of the movie. When the dad said ‘This is how I came into the world’ in relation to his missing arm and how that scene helps normalize people being different from others and that isn’t a bad thing. That same dad seeing two homeless kids and feeding them with no explanation because he definitely saw through his daughter’s obvious lie.

But most of all, the Silenzio Bruno scene at the top of the tower when Luca tells Alberto that his negative thoughts are just that and not based in reality, and how he doesn’t ruin everything and people aren’t better off without him.
