JINWOOK: He looked at you with such amusement in his eyes. Lights were playing in there and it overwhelmed you that you were the reason behind it. “Can you stop looking at me with heart eyes? I’m feeling self-conscious, you know?” you complained, smiling. “Where do you want me to look instead?” he asked, pouting exaggeratedly. You wouldn’t want him to look at someone else, anyway. “It’s not like I don’t like it. It’s just that my mind seem to stop working every time—” Your babbling ended when he sealed a kiss on your lips.
SOOIL: From the car, he walked you up to your doorstep. It was past nine in the evening when you reached home. You couldn’t help but worry whenever he went home late because of dropping you off first. “Drive safely,” you told him. “I will. Don’t worry too much,” he said, not letting go of your hand. “You’re forgetting something necessary.” He smiled sheepishly, and then kissed your lips good night before heading back to his car. You waved at him as you watched him go.
MINSOO: “Ah, Your Highness looks so lovely today,” he sighed when he saw you at last. You made a face at him when you caught your reflection on a shop window you were passing by. Strands of hair fell out of your bun, making it messy. But he remained staring at you like you were, indeed, lovely. “I am not lying,” he said, his hand on his chest. “It’s not my best look yet,” you said shyly. He held out a hand to you, brushing a kiss at the back of your hand. “I know.”
JINHYUK: You glared at him in mock irritation when he kissed your right cheek for no reasons. He gave you a surprised look of fake innocence. “Didn’t you ask for a kiss?” You rolled your eyes. It was your fault, anyway. “You’re pointing at your cheek, so I kissed you there,” he explained as if he just did you a big favor. You eyed the room to see if the students saw you. The library didn’t seem to care. “Erase that stupid ink on your cheek, okay?” But being the annoying guy that he was didn’t listen to you but kissed you again.
CHANGHYUN: Almost all the buses were full and it didn’t surprise you at this hour. Beside you, he kept talking to keep your distraction away from the difficulty of commuting. You concentrated on his voice and his breathing as he stood in that shed with you. His hand was on your elbow, rooting you on your spot. Another bus came and it was time to say goodbye. His hand went to your shoulder. You looked up at him, but he didn’t meet your gaze. He pulled you close gently and kissed your forehead until it was time to go.
WOOSEOK: “You lost in our deal. Again,” he said, emphasizing the last word. “It’s only 2 points!” you argued. “I know what you’re capable of. You don’t have to be so patronizing to me,” he uttered, smirking. He looked at your test paper again, an idea forming in his head. “After I give your punishment, let’s stop competing with each other. It doesn’t make sense,” he proposed. That took him long to notice, you thought. Suddenly his eyes were all serious and looking at him made it hard for you to breathe. He pulled you in, kissed your lips and told you that was it—the punishment.
YEIN: With a smile on your face, you showed him the flower crown you made. The flowers you used looked familiar to him, though. The white and yellow orchids were pretty. “Aren’t those flowers from the bouquet I gave you?” he inquired. “Yes, isn’t it pretty?” As a reply, he approached you and took the crown form you. He put it on you with such care. “Right,” he agreed, taking in the scent of the flowers mixing with your shampoo. He kissed your hair then and said it looked good on you.
GYUJIN: It was dark and the sky lacked stars. You focused on your steps, following the movement of his feet. He glanced back at you from time to time. Lightning striking made for a good kind of flashlight. “Remind me not to go to open fields again,” you said as the two of you made it back to the road. He invited you to come out to watch the skies before rain and brought you to the field. “Sorry, I messed things up,” he said, chuckling. “Were you scared? Come here.” You couldn’t stay annoyed at him for long, besides you enjoyed watching the lightning. He consoled you with a kiss on the forehead, then continued fleeing the rain.
HWANHEE: The photo booth felt stuffy, but seeing the smile on his face gave you the distraction you need to get on with it. He requested this, after all. You didn’t have the heart to turn him down. You copied his peace sign for the first shot. Goofy faces came next and you were totally having fun. The last shot came quickly, as well as the kiss. There you were standing with a slight smile, his lips on your cheek. It was a good memory on paper.
DONGYEOL: “Oh,” he mouthed, grinning at you. “Why don’t you sleep for a while, so you won’t catch me if I stare at you?” he was lying on the couch resting as you sat on the floor. “I really need someone to watch me while I sleep,” he said, chuckling. “Go to sleep, then,” you said with a pout. He stared at you for a beat longer. He even managed to lift his head and plant a quick kiss on your nose before closing his eyes to sleep.
you smiled as you held wooseok’s hand, waking around. the two of you walked around the mall, going store to store, picking up pieces of your costume as wooseok pointed to a halloween store. “why did we just go in there? it would’ve been cheaper by now and it would’ve been a one store visit,”
you whined. “i don’t wanna get into it,” wooseok raised an eyebrow as he laughed a little. “what are you scared of something?” you blushed a little and pushed him away. “well, whatever, i’m going in then,” he walked towards the halloween store as you stood by the entrance.
he noticed the way you would look at anything but the store, as if you were ignoring its existence. he sent you a simple text of “can you come in here :( i can’t pick,” you looked at the message and let your lips form a pout as you looked in to the store. you took a deep breath, feeling that the coast was clear.
you walked in slowly, around the main aisle that would consist of the scary costumes and pop-up decorations for your front lawn. you looked around for wooseok. you continued down the aisle, seeing how wary you looked in the mirror. you looked at your feet for a moment, as you took a deep breath and back up.
you let out a shrill scream as you saw the clown behind you. the red curly hair on the sides and white face paint. along with the huge smile, the teeth that were browning. you turned around and punched the shoulder of whoever was wearing the mask and ran out of the store, finding refuge in a store across the way.
wooseok stood there, in a bit shock of how you reacted. he put the mask away then opened his phone, finding you on his speed dial. you answered , still panting and tears going down your face. “yes?” you spoke carefully. “where are you babe?” he looked around as you told him the store. “i’ll be right there,” he hung up and walked over and found you.
he noticed the tears and wiped them. “what’s wrong?” you sniffed and sighed. “someone pulled a little prank on me in the halloween store and i never found you because i ran out.” wooseok swallowed, he didn’t know how to tell you it was him. seeing you this upset he really didnt want to admit to it as he kissed the top of your head. “i’m so sorry love,” he held you, deciding the story was for another day in the future.
The bell rang for lunch and you slammed your book closed way too hard. A couple classmates seated near you eyes you briefly before you snapped a cross ‘what?’ at them as you stretched your tense back.
You’d been in a bad mood all morning since the interaction with Hwanhee, that girl, Bo, and Dongyeol. Although, the girl had stuck up for you to Hwanhee, it did nothing for who’s reactions you were annoyingly aware of, all the time.
Dongyeol.
You picked up your own and frustratedly scratched scribbles in your notebook. Bo, who had briefly popped out to go to the snack bar, came bustling back in towards you at lightening speed. Bo grabbed your arm and began pulling. You resisted at first. Scowling at her antics.
“Why are you pulling me?”
“Just come on! Trust me!”
You groaned and let her drag you out of the classroom and into the hallway where the windows overlooked the small courtyard of the school. Bo pointed at three boys standing in the courtyard, faces off like a bad western. Your heart jumped. You could spot Dongyeol miles away. And you could hear Hwanhee miles away. But the third boy...
“That’s J!” Bo pipped. “I saw him sitting out there sleeping.or something. When Hwanhee and Dongyeol walked up to him.”
“What do you think they’re saying?” You asked with your throat in your chest.
“Well I know J better be saying how there is literally nothing between you two and Hwanhee comes back up here to apologize and Dongyeol—“
“It doesn’t look like any of that..” You noted, eyes still on the boys. Dongyeol’s jaw has stiffened and so had J’s. Hwanhee’s hands were waving in the air, his chest stuck so far out, it looked like it was inflated. With hot air. You presumed. Then before you knew it, J was turning his back on Dongyeol and Hwanhee and walking away. You frowned.
“What’s that all about?” Bo pondered aloud. You shrugged and moved away from the window. Leaning against the wall just by the doorway of the classroom.
“Who cares?” You tried to sound nonchalant. Bo saw right through it and rolled her eyes.
“You do. I bet—“
“Y/N!” a guy’s voice called out to you in the hallway, cutting Bo off. You both turned and saw J approaching.
“Hey, J. What’s up?” You smiled at your friend. J handed you a box of chocolate milk.
“You said you like sweet drinks.”
“Oh?” You sputtered caught slightly off guard. “Yeah. Thanks?” You laughed a little to keep from feeling awkward. J scratched the back of his head slightly and smiled through the sudden awkwardness as well. Bo stood directly at a 45 degree angle from both of you and absolutely soaked up the whole situation in complete silence. J’s eyes flitted to Bo for a brief second before landing on the hall behind you.
“I just wanted to say thanks again for the help. I feel like i’m gonna pass the test this time.”
“That’s great! Confidence is key!” You babbled. Eyebrows flinching and betraying your exterior carefree attitude. J laughed regardless.
“I guess so.” J paused. “Hey, if i really does pass. I’ll owe you a movie.”
Bo’s eyebrows practically took off flying. Your eyes widened a bit, but you kept your composure.
“I’ll hold you to that.” You teased. You wouldn’t really. But then again, maybe you would...if he was even serious, anyway. J smiled a reassured smile that made you think twice about being so nonchalant. He nodded at both you and Bo before leaving for his classroom. Bo slid up next to you.
“How much do you wanna bet he told Dongyeol and Hwanhee that he likes you down there.”
“What?? J?? No way!” You rejected one hushed tones. Bo folded her arms and shook her head in shame at your denial.
“You can’t even tell what’s important here.”
“And what’s that Know-It-All?” You started to turn to walk back into the classroom. Bo followed you, speaking excitedly but in low tones.
“You saw them down in that courtyard! If J really was down there confessing his feelings for you to Dongyeol and Hwanhee, then that means Dongyeol didn’t like what he heard!”
That stopped you in your tracks. You managed to plod your way back to your seat and began fiddling with your books. Not sure how to feel. Delusional? Excited? Worried about a misunderstanding? If Dongyeol thought J liked you, and he also thought that you two were sharing chocolate milk from the same straw in public...what else would be left to think of? On the other hand, if J did confess to Dongyeol his feelings about you, and Dongyeol didn’t like it, that had to mean it was because Dongyeol likes you, right? Would he fight for you? Would he try to win your favor first? Should you play as if you know nothing? Did you, in fact, actually know anything though?? As your worries and hopes crashed and swirled together in your mind, you felt Bo slyly poke you back to reality. Bo hissed,
“Look who’s on his way over.”
It was Dongyeol. Holding a glass bottle close to his side. When he reached your desk he simply smiled at you and put the drink down on it.
“I know you like these. Hazlenut latte...right?”
Your heart skipped at his smile. You managed to get out,
Hey Marshmallows! It’s been a loooong time. Think of this short little thing as a “back in the saddle” short. I feel so rusty!! Anyway, Up10tion is having a comeback soon(if it isn’t here already by the time i post this loll) and i hope to see you all supporting them!! OT10 or not, let’s please give the 7 boys something to keep working for!!!

JINWOOK: Although he was smiling you can tell something was bothering him. You were being careful as to not spoil his mood. He looked happy anyway, so you decided not to ask. But in the end your curiosity won. “Perhaps you have something to tell me?” In reply, he dropped his gaze on his coffee and mumbled, “I do but it can wait till tomorrow, I think.” Your heart throbbed in excitement. On the other hand it made his heart race as well, remembering the tiny black velvet box lying peacefully in his drawer back home.
SOOIL: Hanging out with him was never boring. No matter what he said was too funny for you. Luckily the other customers were busy with their own conversations. No one paid you attention in that diner. “Will you ever stop being funny? It feels like I’ve been laughing for two hours straight,” you said, grinning. “You’re too serious. Take things lightly. You should laugh more.” Grateful, you stared at him with his words still ringing in your ears. For him it’s the sound of your laugh that he likes to hear.
MINSOO: Admiring the exterior of the coffee shop, you suddenly got the impulse to buy something to drink from it. The tiny bell rang when you opened the French doors. The interior was more classy and beautiful. It was like you were somewhere in Europe. The feeling of someone looking at you made you turn your head. And there he was, sitting alone with a cup of coffee in front of him. You thought you saw him smile at you before you looked away.
JINHYUK: Confused and surprised, you stared at him. Seeing him outside your house wasn’t a normal thing for you. “What are you doing out here?” he asked before you could say anything. It should be you asking him that question. “I live near here,” you responded casually. “What are you doing here? You’re not from here.” He put his hands in his pockets and sighed. “I’m just passing.” The answer sounded uncertain to you. “I’ll be going then,” you said, leaving him dismayed that he didn’t talk to you longer when he actually waited for you.
CHANGHYUN: What he’s playing on the piano made you want to close your eyes, but you didn’t. You can’t help but admire him. He’s always a surprise. The music stopped and he said, “Come here.” He patted the space beside him. “Let’s play that piece we practiced before.” Immediately you remembered the notes of the piece he taught you years ago. He began playing the first notes and then you followed. You were too focused with the keys that you didn’t notice he was smiling every time your fingers brushed with his.
WOOSEOK: “Sorry I won’t be able to meet you right now. I’ll call you later,” you told him on the phone. You really wanted to see him but you just can’t say no to your boss. Work was the reason why didn’t get to spend quality time with him sometimes. “Alright, don’t stay out late,” he advised. “I’ll wait for your call.” The excitement in his steps died as he signed off for work. He understood how you busy were. Maybe today’s not really the right time for you to know.
YEIN: “Are you going to leave?” he asked after you stood up. You heard a hint of sadness in his voice and noticed a crease on his forehead. “Well, it’s getting dark and we’re done studying anyway.” He was already packing his textbooks in his bag that littered the table. “I’m not,” you corrected him. “I’m thinking of going to the convenience store, do you want anything?” The patrons in the public library were leaving one by one, so he thought you might do the same. “Don’t go alone. I’ll go there with you,” he said. “Okay,” you responded, trying hard not to smile.
GYUJIN: The subway was already crowded when it arrived at the station. It’s the rush hour and you’re thankful to be able to catch it. Your eyelids were drooping in tiredness, but you fought sleep. There’s not a seat available, so you can’t afford to lose your balance. As the subway was approaching the next station, you turned to look at your left where he was standing beside you. Finally the train halted, with him bumping into you gently. It was awkward and accidental—a kiss on the forehead that wasn’t really a kiss. “I’m sorry,” the tall guy mumbled. You peeked at him only to see him blushing in embarrassment.
HWANHEE: Sighing, you blinked your eyes as you get your books from your locker. You left your glasses at home again, or so you thought. He was standing beside you when you closed the locker door. “You dropped this,” he uttered, handing your notepad back. “Thank you,” you said, smiling. “I didn’t notice. Like how I forgot wearing my glasses.” You’ve never talked to him casually like this before. Suddenly it felt good seeing him. He smiled and pointed at your head. “Turns out you forgot you’re wearing them,” he said, smirking. That smirk added to the reasons why you got flustered.
DONGYEOL: Tiny drops of rain began falling. Too dazed at the look he was giving you, you ignored it. “Would you change if i… if I tell you,” he stuttered. “Since I met you, I’m always happy. I like being with you.” he pulled on the hood of your jacket to shield you from the drizzle. Now that you noticed it, his proximity caused your mind to malfunction. He even took a step closer, making you speechless. “I want you to know that I like you. Do you feel the same about me?” he asked expectantly. “Yes,” you breathed, nodding your head in reply. He smiled, taking your hand.
A/N: Hey, Honey10s! 5 months in the fandom and I was overwhelmed with the love and attention the boys are showering us (even when things weren’t smooth right now). If you’ve been in the long run with them, I wanted to thank you for rooting for them and for being so welcoming to baby Honey10s like me. You guys are love! So I decided to write this The Selection-inspired scenario from author Kiera Cass.
From thousands of young men in the kingdom, ten had been chosen. They were from different castes, different walks of life, who have come to the palace to try winning your heart. And you, you’re none other than the heir, the next Queen. Now you’re halfway through your own Selection with these young men. Your life was turned upside down just having them around. The Coronation Day was fast approaching and everyone was watching, waiting for someone to be that One.
Ten fates depended on your decision.
Your fate was all in your own hands.
But nothing was easy.
The Selection might be grand—but so was real love.
Sir Jinwook Kim of Changwon, Four – speaks with so much calm, comforting smiles and kind words, his gentlemanly ways never fail to impress you
The faint afternoon sun gave you another view of him. You showed him the succulents that grew in the palace garden. He loved them and nostalgia was suddenly evident on his face. Your heart softened at the sight of the longing look in his eyes and a hint of a smile on his lips. He told you he had a lot of succulents in his room back home. The memory of his arrival in the palace came back to him. “I was shoved into the world of royals. I was losing it back then, but you smiled at me. You made it easy, Your Highness. You made it easier to fall for you.” He smiled, despite the thorns sinking in his skin.
Sir Sooil No of Ansan, Two – cool yet extremely funny, speaks whatever comes to mind, has nice smiles that changes his face, so much confidence
In the shadows you saw a familiar figure crouching behind a post as the guards greeted you with a bow. Two months in the palace and you knew the reason why he used to sneak at night. He just wanted air, he told you once. That made you think that he didn’t want to be confined inside the walls of this palace. He put a finger on his lips as a gesture of plea. You nodded your head at him. “I don’t like being at someone’s mercy,” he said quietly. “But if it’s you, Your Highness, then it’s an honor. Have your way.” You felt the dark hallway brightened when he smiled, leaving you there.
Sir Minsoo Go of Bucheon, Four – noble, prim and proper, tall, fair and handsome, intellectual, has a way with words, says what you need to hear rather than what you want
Before it got dark outside, he offered you a hand. With so much gentleness he pulled you up. The way his hand felt good in yours flustered you. He picked up his coat from the ground where you sat earlier. A smile appeared on his face for no reason and you found yourself transfixed on it. He returned your gazes openly. “A future without you in it… would be unbearable. Fate’s been good to me, anyway. I came to know you.” He brought your hand to his lips and gave it one of his many gentle kisses.
Sir Jinhyuk Lee of Hyewong-dong, Three – the tallest and confident one, pretty direct but he could be shy, expresses himself best when he holds you
The looming Coronation Day kept everybody on edge and you busier than before. Today had been spent with him in a marathon of classic movies. He asked you about the dreaded day of all the suitors. You heard fear in his voice, something that was new to you. “I don’t have much to offer—just my loyalty and this heart.” Your heart picked up a beat. “They’ll still be yours even if you choose to love another.”
Sir Changhyun Lee of Dongducheon, Four – sociable and communicative, life of the party, has pretty eyes and deep voice you like, there’s nothing he cannot do
“You seriously don’t have an idea how you make me feel?” he said, out of nowhere. His deep voice remained ringing in your ears. He didn’t even bat an eyelash when on the contrary you were surprised with his courage. “Can you give me a minute? I want to draw this exact moment.” Surely he didn’t mean the skies or the wonderful view before you. It was you and only you.
Sir Wooseok Kim of Daejeon, Two – mysterious, quiet, handsome, most of the suitors find him intimidating but he’s good to everyone
Time with him seemed inexplicably odd, immeasurable. The conversation had gone deeper from how your day went to your future plans for the kingdom. “For a One like you, what is there to want for? The kingdom, everyone’s loyalty, they’re everything and all for you—me included,” he said, finding your hand beside his. He said nothing more after that, looking up at the starry skies.
Sir Yein Seon of Jeollanam-do, Five – cute is an understatement, has pretty handwriting, written words, morals and his voice are your favorite things about him
His hand was feather-light on yours as he corrected your hold on the brush. He smelled like sweet berries and musk. He instructed you patiently. You noted how he had a knack for learning how to do things even if took him hours. He showed you his work and you were dazed by it, by him. You are more than just a number, a symbol. You are hope dressed in pastel colors and all the good things there are. The fine paper bled with his beautiful words written in calligraphy. He wiped the ink on your hand, pulling you out of a mesmerizing dream.
Sir Gyujin Han of Incheon, Five – tall, beautiful (and he doesn’t know he is), loves taking photos and music, soft-spoken, annoyingly funny, gentle
As the drizzle began to fall, he quickly took off his coat and put it on your head. You noticed him fuss with the suit, his movements and then back to his eyes. He stopped moving, unmindful of the rain. He spoke your name and it was music to you. “Just the fact that I can call you by your name is an honor. Just to be seen in your eyes is more than a privilege.” You saw yourself in his eyes, all wide-eyed and smitten. He then leaned in closer and you surprised yourself when you didn’t move away.
Sir Hwanhee Lee of Daejeon, Three – shy and quiet but also loud (very much) and fun-loving, polite and friendly, treats the other suitors as his brothers, soft-hearted
A quiet and sincere smile appeared on his lips just as you came out the door. You could tell he hurried to meet you by the looks of his tie. He let out a nervous chuckle when you smoothed it out for him. It was still adorable of him. You matched his smile and the tension eased. “I wasn’t made for this, you know. But sometimes I dream I was—I am—somehow, born for you.” He laughed it off, but you knew better. He was more honest when he was flippant.
Sir Dongyeol Lee of Busan, Two – bubbly and cheerful, acts cute all the time, very sweet, can talk the entire time, easygoing
He sat on the balcony, balancing his weight and tightening his grip on the railing. It worried you but you relaxed when you saw his easy manner. Being with people like him was easy. He asked questions because of curiosity without prejudice. “Love would be the one hurrying to find you. Don’t look for it. Love is on its way,” he advised and you agreed. And then his eyes twinkled with something close to mischief. “In the meantime, you can look at me.”
this wasnt requested but i wanted to celebrate Wooseok coming back from hiatus so here we are!! <3

Jinhoo:
He will be so emotional, honestly. He never likes leaving you, so while the tour is fun, once he gets alone, he just thinks about how you aren’t there. Seeing you again after months of being apart just brings tears to his eyes because he missed you so much and you are finally with him again.
Sooil:
He would be such a love-struck bean. One look at your face after only seeing on a screen for months would make him go all heart eyes. His heart would race, his palms would get sweaty and he would stutter. He would fall in love with you all over again.
Minsoo:
Touchy. Very touchy. He’s not a big skinship fan but he hadn’t touched your skin in months so he planned to hold you until you couldn’t stand it and then kiss your lips until they fell off.
Sungjun:
A whiny baby. He would immediately try to convince you to come with him on the next tour, and would not take no for an answer. He never wanted to spend months without you ever again.
Changhyun:
This usually quiet baby is so talkative when he sees you. He held back his feelings of missing you during the tour to stay happy but seeing you brought those feelings back up, and he was going to tell you how much he missed you in great detail.
i couldnt find a good gif im sorry
Wooseok:
A little shit. Honestly, he would surprise you and not tell you when he was coming home. Once he saw you though, his usually stoic face became all smiles and he would wrap you in his arms, kissing every part of your face he could reach. He was with his happiness again.
Yein:
This precious angel is just so happy to see you again. He seems to be more physical when he’s down or overwhelmed, kind of like he’s grounding himself. Seeing you would strike so many emotions so he would wrap you in his arms, to feel you and also to remind himself that you were actually there.
Gyujin:
Very smiley. A whole smiley baby. The smile would show up when he saw you first and didn’t leave until his cheeks forced himself to not smile anymore. He was just so elated to see you again.
Hwanhee:
He is kind of a tough case. Outwardly, he would smile and kiss you, but wouldn’t make a fuss out of it. However, inwardly, he’s very emotional. Seeing you again made him realize how much he actually missed you and he never wanted to leave you again.
Dongyeol:
Your boyfriend turned into a koala. Seeing you again would make him treasure the time with you he had before his schedules started again, so he would cling to you and rarely let you go. He wanted to remind you how much he loved you through the cuddles he missed so much.
Word Count: 3,557 (it’s not as long of a read as the word count makes it out to be and this may be one of my favorite scenarios, aside from Sunny Days and The Boy Made of Ice)
A/N: I took this from Hwanhee and Sunyoul’s cover of Last Christmas (which by the way has made me so damn happy and soft, like someone explain that to me)

Last Christmas I gave you my heart
But the very next day, you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears, I’ll give it to someone special
I have ten wonderful friends and every year I go over to their place to spend the holidays with them. Christmas happens to be our favorite holiday so we go all out for each other. There’s singing, dancing, games, decorating the tree, and present exchanges. My favorite part of the night is getting to perform in front of each other. We each pick a song that sums up how we've been feeling this year and what was want for the next year.
For the last ten years we’ve been doing this and every years it somehow gets better than the one before. However, there was a year that I didn’t spend Christmas with them and that I will never forget. Even though I remember what happened as if it was yesterday, they made the pain duller and my life with them has changed for the better. Especially with Jinhoo, he is a big reason why I’m as happy as I am now and have the confidence I do.
It all started two years ago during the first week of March when I met him. His name was Han and at the time I met him, he was my world. The way we met might seem strange, I assure you it was now that I think about it, but at the time we didn’t know the difference. It was during a performance I had with my dance team, we were prepping to go on stage for one last dance before the judges would determine which team would go further.
Han saw me leading my team through the motions of our routine and I guess the intense focus I had made him curious about who the hell I was. Once we ran through the steps, with no mistakes mind you, I nodded my head at my team (who are my friends) and told them to get water and rest up. That was when he approached me, walking up behind me calmly then cleared his throat to make his presence known to me. Turning my head slightly I decided that I should talk to him, for what reason I still don’t know, the suddenly realized how tall he was compared to me.
“Excuse me, I couldn’t help but notice your team. They’re very well prepared for their turn.”
That threw me off really, I could get the sense that he thought I was their choreographer and had decided to try and get some info out of me. A small chuckled escaped my lips, bringing a bottle of water to them to take a drink before turning back to the boy in front of me. I could see in his eyes that he was slightly confused as to why I thought his comment was funny.
“I’m not the choreographer, if that’s what you’re inferring but it’s a very flattering comment. I’m the team captain, it’s my job to make sure we have impeccable chemistry with each other and trust our bodies in the hands of others.”
Han smiled down at me before holding out his hand and then I knew; he’s the captain of our rival team. I now it seems rude and petty, which it really is, but I didn’t want to shake his hand at the time. Being a person from the opposite time and one of our biggest challengers, I didn’t want to actually talk to him in the first place. I had no idea but I found myself in that situation so I had to go with it.
“I’m Han, leader of TK. If you’re the team captain then you must be Y/N, am I right?”
“You’re not wrong. Now, please leave. My team and I need to discuss somethings.”
And that’s how we first met each other, formally at least since we both knew of the other but never got a face to put to the names. During the first couple of times I saw him I had to admit he was a rather good looking guy. On stage he was so focused and showed his talent well. Off stage he was a ball of energy and joy, always wanting to make someone’s day better. If any of his teammates was having a bad day he would pull them aside to talk it out with them, if they wanted.
For a few weeks he would come by our studio to talk to me, saying he wanted to get to know me and things like that. I agreed to talk and get to know him as a person rather than someone who's competition. However, it was also during this time that my friends used to come by constantly to watched us practice and cheer us on. They’re the more experienced ones so I’ll often go to them for advise on how to be a better leader or how I should transition from one move to another.
Out of all ten of them, my very best friend in the group is Jinhoo. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend, or what felt like a brother to me. When Han entered the picture he and the others started to wonder what was going on with me. My attitude started to change around them and I wouldn’t talk to them when they came to see my practices with my team. While none of them blamed me for my change, looking back on it now I kind of wish they had because maybe then I would have noticed sooner.
Han and I started to date after a month, and then we began a couple. Our teams weren’t very happy about the situation but they didn’t bring it up because we’re the best leaders in the country. The companies we were hired under didn’t want to fire us for being together either for the very same reason. Rehiring would take too much time that we didn’t have so they let us be, as long as we didn’t show it during competitions.
Around Thanksgiving Han started to change whenever I was with him. He wouldn’t be as talkative as he used to be and he would often look at his phone texting, who I thought at the time was his friends. During this time I tried not to think about it too much since I still had to bring my team to regionals, and hopefully beyond that year. For a few weeks I didn’t see him because we were both busy trying to prep our teams. I was fine with not seeing him, since I had Jinhoo and the others by my side to help us out.
December 24th, yes Christmas Eve, was the day of nationals and my team and I couldn’t have been more excited to show what we prepared. Kuhn, Kogyeol, Bitto, and Jinhoo came backstage with me to run through the dance one more time with the team while the others took their seats. While we practiced Han watched from the sidelines like he normally did and when we finished I went to hug him since it had been almost a month from the last time I saw him in person. Even though he smiled down at me, it was empty and I couldn’t tell why.
“You did great as usual. I’m so proud of you. No matter the outcome I can’t wait to have to stay over tonight for Christmas.”
He gave me another hug, kissed my forehead, then went back to make sure that his team was still running through the routine. If I had been paying attention at the time, I would have seen Kuhn, Kogyeol, Bitto, and Jinhoo grimace at his comment about my dancing. If I had been paying attention I would have noticed that they were talking about how Han really wasn’t someone I should be with. If I had been paying attention I wouldn’t noticed the pain in Jinhoo’s eyes when Han kissed my forehead.
I went back to them and thanked them for helping us out with the dance and told them to go get their seats before the contest began. Each of them gave me a hug for good luck or ruffled my hair, only Jinhoo smiled and walked away. This was even stranger for me because he never just smiled and walked away from me before. I had to shake it off though, my group would be going on in about five minutes. The second we set foot on that stage the crowd practically got out of their seats and ran to the stage. We greeted them and the judges before getting into our formation, then the lights went out.
The end result of the contest was that my team won first place and we got to move on to the next level. As soon as we were free I ran to find Han, I knew he really wanted to bring his team to nationals. When I found him he was surrounded by his friends as they all looked down at what appeared to be his phone. I didn’t really get why they were making such a commotion about whatever was on his phone, so I ran up to him. His friends cleared a path for me as I landed in his lap with my arms circled around his neck. It took him a moment to realize that it was me but once he figured it out he hugged me back.
“I saw you out there and you did wonderfully as per usual. Though I’m a bit sad I won’t be moving onto the finals with you.”
We talked for awhile before walking back to where my team had put our things so he and I could head back to his place for Christmas. I told him to wait outside for me, I’d be out in a few minutes, so he stayed in the hallway. My bag had somehow gotten moved in the commotion of my team and I trying to get on stage while the managers were trying to collect their people together. Eventually I found it behind the couch and checked one more time to make sure I had everything with me that I needed. When I came out of the room I saw Han with my friends, who all seemed to be putting him under fire for something or other. Casually I walked over to give him a kiss on the cheek, then turned to my friends to address them.
“Y/N, you really can't come over for Christmas like usual?”
“Not this year Hwanhee, but there will be other years that I come over.”
He pouted at me ever so cutely while the rest of the guys stood there looking rather downcast. I shook my head at their silliness then went around to hug each other them before leaving with Han. I came to Jinhoo last, and somehow his face seemed the most upset out of all of them. When he hugged me, there was a different feeling to it, he acted as if I was leaving them forever.
“Please don’t go.”
“I have to...”
We whispered to each other as I pulled away then headed off with Han. If I had turned back I would have seen the boys stare at me with worried faces, especially that of Jinhoo. His face was the saddest of all of them, but I wasn’t smart enough to know why at the time. The second Han and I were out of sight he began to tear up, so the others had to quickly shepherd him out of the building and back home. A few of them supported Jinhoo on the way to the car seeing as his body was having a rather bad reaction to me leaving. Once he was in Xiao glanced up at the older, placing a hand gently on the others.
“It’s okay hyung, it’ll be okay...”
“I hope to God you’re right Xiao...”
The drive to Hans place was quiet as we were both extremely tired from performing just a few minutes ago. I settled into the comfort of his car to take a nap since he lived two hours away from the venue. From the corner of my eyes, just as I dozed off, I could see him smile but it wasn’t for me. Though I couldn’t think about it as I drifted off to sleep, which wasn’t that peaceful in the end. I didn’t really sleep through the car ride because Han kept talking, to who I didn’t know but I wanted him to shut up so I could sleep.
Even when we got to his house, things didn’t change between us as we headed in together. I went upstairs to put my things in his room while he went to set up the living room for movies and snacks. Han’s room isn’t extremely big, nor is the house itself, but it’s comfortable to live in. I quickly changed into more comfortable clothing then headed back downstairs. About half way down I heard his voice coming from the kitchen, I figured that he was talking to one of his friends. However, I was incredibly wrong, as I got closer I heard a sort of sweetness to his tone of voice that he definitely doesn’t use with his friends.
“Yeah, no I promise that we will have tomorrow evening together. I can’t just kick her out, we agreed to spend Christmas together three weeks ago.”
“I know I promised to spend time with you but I haven’t told her yet.”
“Tiffany I will not do this to her on Christmas Eve.”
There was my answer: plain as daylight, Han was cheating on me with the Tiffany. She’s on my team and was initially supposed to be the captain but didn’t make the final cut and I took her place. I guess she was angry that I took that position from her, even though we’re friends (or so I thought), so she wanted to take Han. Tiffany isn’t the jealous type so it surprised me to realize that they were going behind my back. Though I didn’t want to hear anymore because I heard everything I needed to. I quietly made my way back upstairs and shut the door to his room. I threw on my favorite hoodie, which happened to be Jinhoo’s grey one but he said I could keep it, grabbed my bag then headed for the window.
Han’s house may be two stories but he has an escape ladder running down the side of it. I opened the window then crawled out into the cold night. Once I was a few blocks away, I pulled out my phone to call the one person I knew who would help me no matter what: Jinhoo. When he picked up the phone I started to explain, but then I snapped and started crying so hard I could hardly breath. He tried to calm me down, but that clearly wasn’t working out too well, so he told me to stay where I was.
“Kuhn and Kogyeol are on their way right now. Wait by the bus stop and you’ll see them in a few minutes. Y/N... Please come back to me safely...”
Then he hung up and I was left in silence. A strong gust of cold air smacked me in the face as I walked to the bus stop, where upon arrival I saw no one which was a good thing. The bench felt like ice even through my sweat pants I could tell that it was only going to get worse. My cheeks were tear stained, I could tell easily and it was only made more clear when Kogyeol and Kuhn pulled up in a black car. Concern was written all over their faces as Kogyeol got me into the car and Kuhn threw my bag in the trunk. We were off in two minutes flat and from the rearview mirror, I could’ve sworn I saw Han watching us in slight horror. Though I couldn’t have cared what he thought then because he hurt me and what was worse is that he was my first boyfriend.
We got back to the dorm quickly, during which time I had fallen asleep so Kuhn had to carry me inside while Kogyeol grabbed my bag from the car. I don’t know what time I woke up at, but when I finally did I saw the guys all asleep on the furniture and floor. Then it occurred to me: my head isn’t on a cushion, so what am I lying on? I glanced up and noticed that it was Jinhoo, he too was fast asleep and breathing calmly. Seeing him like this was strange for me; he looked so sweet and angelic. My hand reached out to touch his cheek, which resulted in him waking up almost immediately. Once his eyes landed on me I could see the full extent of his sadness but also sorrow for me.
“So you found out...”
“Y-yeah... I did.”
“I’m sorry we didn’t tell you, but we had to let you find out on your own...”
“It’s alright.”
I wrapped my arms around his waist and took a deep breath in, in an attempt to calm myself down from everything that had just happened. Jinhoo shifted in his place slightly so that my head would be on his chest instead of on his lap. He brought me close to him and that’s how we stayed for a good twenty minutes. After that he made a confession that I wasn’t really prepared for.
“I know you just got your heart broken, but so have I. Some times it really hurts to be around you because I know that you don’t feel the same way about me. After today though... I can’t keep it in anymore. Y/N, I love you. I love you so so much but I never said anything because you wanted him. Being selfish wasn’t an option for me because I knew you wouldn’t be happy. Seeing you upset, is the worst thing in the world.”
“Jinhoo?”
“This is my confession to you: I love you so much that it kills me everyday on the inside. It hurts to not be free to express how I feel. Two years ago, when you and I went out into the snow, I knew then that I loved you. If you will have me then that would make my Christmas infinitely better. If you accept me then I will never hurt you the way he did. If you accept me...it must be because you feel an affection towards me that’s more than just friendship.”
Back then, I didn’t immediately know what to say to him since the news was so sudden. Yet something in me knew that he would in fact love me, for every fiber of my being and every spark of passion. Today, it’ll be a year since I broke up with Han and dated Jinhoo. Today, it’s once again Christmas Eve but this year I’m spending it with my boyfriend and my best friends. While I don’t fully know what the future holds for me with them, I know that it’s better than what Han had to offer me.
“Y/N, come on. We’re about to open a few gifts!”
Wei calls out to me from down the hall since he’s almost always too lazy to get up and tell me. As I head out of the bedroom I share with Jinhoo, I feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket. I take it out and there, in black and white, is Han’s name on the screen. I decide to open his message to me, I’ve long since gotten over him so I have no care about what he has to say.
‘Y/N, it’s been a year now but I want you to know that I’m still so sorry about what I did to you... You didn’t deserve that... I know it’s a long shot, but would you take me back?’
I message him back quickly and stuff my phone deep down in my pocket as I walk into the living room. I’m greeted by everyone with hugs and smiles all around. My favorite greeting is always from Jinhoo; he kisses my forehead, then my cheeks, and finally my lips. His kisses are soft like kashmir and gentle like as a summer breeze. He is my favorite person on this earth, because he is my world and I am his.
My message to Han read as follows:
I can’t take you back, nor will I accept any kind of apology from you. It’s clear that you and I are not a match and you took my trust along with part of my team. Last Christmas I gave you my heart but the very next day you gave it away. This year I saved myself from tears, because I found someone special. You should find someone too.
“Y/N, look up.”
I’m drawn back to reality by the sweet sound of Jinhoo’s voice. He’s pointing to the mistletoe above us and I blush profusely.
Irritated as he watched you lean over and kiss Xiao, he began to think things and thought maybe you’d leave him now for his friend. He’d be distant for the rest of the night until you told him you would never leave him after a silly kiss.
NO SUL IL ▫ KUHN
Confused, he wasn’t all familiar with truth or dare so when you got dared to kiss Jinhoo he’d shoot everyone a weird glare as if asking ‘are you for real?’ afterwards he’d pull you into his lap and kiss you repeatedly.
KO MIN SOO ▫ KOGYEOL
Mature about it, he knew it was just for a stupid game and wouldn’t get fussy over it. Afterwards you’d apologise and he’d just kiss you softly and tell you he knew how hot he was and that you would never leave him for ‘that.’
LEE SUNG JUN ▫ WEI
Pouty, he’d be so upset that he has to watch you kiss Kuhn and be clingy for the rest of the night with you, and end up being the one apologising later for being upset but you forgave him and told him the kiss was just a kiss.
LEE CHANG HYUN ▫ BIT-TO
Confused at first he would wonder what was happening and why it was, roughly pulling you off Kogyeol and shooting him a confused and angry look while the others bursted out with laughter. You explained to him you guys were playing spin the bottle.
KIM WOO SEOK ▫ WOOSHIN
Nope. Nup. Nu uh. No. He was not happy with the rules of losing truth or dare since he knew you were going to be the main target of the game. It was simple, you back out of a dare or truth you have the give the asker a kiss. He pulled you out of there and spent the rest of the night with you.
SEON YE IN ▫ SUNYOUL
Okay with the situation, you lost a bet so it was only fair. You’d give him a look of ‘why are you encouraging this’ causing him to smirk. As soon as it was over and the others left he would pin you down to the couch and begin leaving purple blossoms, a clue to the night ahead.
HANG YU JIN ▫ GYUNJIN
Oh boy you’re in trouble as soon as your lips touched Kogyeol’s, he couldn’t bare to watch you and him so he simply locked himself in his room. You shared a confused look with the others, so you went and asked him what’s wrong only to have his dominant side come out. “On your knees now princess.”
LEE HWAN HEE ▫ HWANHEE
Upset that he had to see that, he’d be confused as to why you would cheat on him only for you to explain later on that it was Gyunjin who came onto you and kissed you. He could feel relief in his chest but he still didn’t hesitate to go after his member and yell at him.
LEE DONG YEOL ▫ XIAO
Uhm, he’d be blushy and all red when you pecked Hwanhee’s lips quickly for a stupid dare. He would pull you into his lap after and smother your face in kisses causing you to giggle and swat him away.
