ASSIGNMENT TWO: ONLINE PROGRESS UPDATE ONE - WORK ALREADY DONE
I have already done a small amount of work towards this task this week just to get a feel for the project and to quickly revise the tools that I will be using.
Above is a quick rig I made with the ARTv1 plguin for Maya of “Zeal” in order to use as a basis for the creation of my rig. I will be able to use it as a guideline for scale and model for my rig.
I have also begun to watch some Pluralsight tutorials about creating character rigs within Maya and Mudbox, one of the resources I set for myself in the wrapup of Assignment 1.
The link to the videos is here: https://creative.pluralsight.com/learningpath/51-Modeling-for-Character-Artists-in-Maya
ASSIGNMENT TWO: ONLINE PROGRESS UPDATE ONE - PLANNING
The overall aim for my project is to have a fully modelled character rig with animation/motion capabilities that can be demonstrated in Unreal Engine.
I will be working with Autodesk Maya and Autodesk Mudbox in order to create the actual rig itself, and will then be importing it into Unreal Engine to showcase it’s functionality. After creating a sequence in Unreal I will then use Adobe After Effects for any post-production touch-ups that are necessary for the final render. Obviously, I would like my rig to be high quality and have good functionality as an animate-able asset.
In order to meet these requirements, I will be planning to use my time as follows:
Week 7: Begin to revise and research the process of creating a Rig in Maya. Week 8: Finalise revision/research and begin work on Rig. Week 9: Continue working on Rig, add extra detail with Mudbox. Week 10: Begin to finalise Rig, add finer details. Week 11: Have Rig completed at this point. Week 12: Import all assets into Unreal, finalise movements and animations. Week 13: Finalise render and sequence, post-processing in After Effects.
I will plan to be spending around 10-12 hours on this project each week in order to meet these requirements.
ASSIGNMENT TWO: ONLINE PROGRESS UPDATE ONE - CHOSEN STREAM + BRIEF
To confirm, my chosen stream for this second piece of assessment is the Character Stream, and the brief that I am going with is the first:
Focus on building and rigging a complete character based on the provided concept art, from proxy geometry through to final geometry, materials. Demonstrate the rig capabilities in an animated sequence in Unreal Engine 4.
I have chosen to work with the “Zeal” concept art, pictured above, that was provided on blackboard.
Updates! #1
//Hey everyone! Thank you so much for being a part of this blog and supporting it every step of the way. There’s been a few things happening in my life and online so it’s been a little difficult staying on top of posts.
Unfortunately, my dog passed away a few days ago so it hasn’t been quite the same since. I’m finding it very difficult to actually motivate myself to write and even to continue life as I had before with working out and such. It’s definitely been hard for me to even convince myself to get out of bed or even go to bed.
But, on a lighter note, I have changed the name of this Tumblr to “I Hart Health” to better represent this blog and its content. My tag is now iharthealth, so please tag any posts related to me with it o3o besides that, the blog is still the same and will post the content I was before.
To top it all off, today is the day my boyfriend returns from Alaska! It’s been two weeks since we’ve seen each other and it’s the longest we’ve been apart since we were dating. It’s definitely been a rough two weeks for me so it’ll be very comforting to have him back in my life.
More updates and posts to come, thanks for being so patient and supportive during this harsh time. You guys are the best.

(May contain mild spoilers) Thoughts on Books/Review-ish:
Shadow and Bone, So I was already reading Shadow and Bone when the readathon started i only had a little over 100 pages left to read. The book starts off with an interesting plot line (here's the synopsis) The whole Grisha world was really interesting it did kind of give me a little of Avatar feel with all the water bending-esque things. Alina started off as a strong relatable character but Im not particularly fond of the way her character developed. The other characters are interesting too, but no one exactly stands out that much, The Darkling did to some extent but I can't really pick out anything I liked/disliked about him. I don't really care about Mal, he in fact annoyed me a little bit, their romance isn't great i would've much rather preferred them being friends. On top of that his proclamation of love just seemed really bad,his line -..I see you now I am sorry I didn't earlier..- (not exact quote) i just i , he is apologizing for not falling in love with her before?? Or is he actually apologizing for being an ass before??? Even with all of that I did enjoy this book, and I will most probably read Seige and Storm.
I gave this book a 3.5 of 5 stars
I just had so much to do this week that I could hardly read anything. As of now its 10.30 pm so I will hopefully read something before going to sleep. I've actually been reading only before sleeping because that is the only absolutely free time I have. I am beginning to wonder if it was a right decision choosing do this challenge at this point of time, It seems to me like i might not be able to complete even 40 % of what i hoped. But you know what it's okay, because reading shouldn't be stressful infact it is a stress buster at least for me, so what if I don't read as much as i thought i would but at least im reading and im happy about it. So even if I don't complete the set challenge no worries. I am enjoying myself and that is the main aim now isn't it?
Happy Reading everyone!
Okay so update number 1: I am falling asleep at my computer as I get closer to being halfway done. I've yawned probably 7 times in the last 2 minutes alone and I can barely keep my eyes open. I'm about to go make myself coffee, even though I know if I do that, I will not sleep at all tonight. This is why you don't procrastinate, kiddos. Don't do what I did.
