What are your headcanons for 'where the sea kisses the earth'? 💖💖💖
Hello anon!
Funny, just this morning I started to write the third chapter for this fic^^
Anyway, at first I started to come up with headcanons for the Atlantis Galahd, but then it kinda turned into a thing about the ancient horror that lives in the sea and made all of this possible in the first place. Ups? I hope you will enjoy this anyway.
.
.
- The Astrals did not create Eos, no matter what they let others believe. They may have made themselves its protectors, but that is all they are.
- Leviathan is of the sea, but she did not create it. Not its depths nor its currents nor its waves. Not even she knows all the secrets the sea holds.
- But sometimes, close to the deepest ravines, she can sense something. Something ancient and pitiless. Something that should have been long dead and gone. But it isn’t, and that scares her.
- This is also the reason she is the most conscious about this truth. That Eos is so much older than even they are.
- Titan is the only one who comes close. The earth remembers many things, and before he had to hold the meteor up, the Archaean often came upon hints of things that had trailed the planet, long before he had opened his eyes for the first time. But now it has been so long since Titan had been able to carve a mountain, and he had begun to forget.
- Bahamut is the youngest, and there was not much for him to forget, because he never really knew. When he found the crystal at the heart of the world, ancient and powerful and dormant, he did not know what he had found. He needed its power, so he took it. What did he shake loose as he did so, I wonder?
- There is a crack now, deep in the heart of the world, and it festers. Something dark leaks from it and slowly poisons the planet.
- The ancient thing that-is-not-dead-but-should-be, can feel this wound and stirs.
- Leviathan senses this and hides in the heart of her power. A storm rages, beget by her fear. None of her brethren listen to her.
- The thing is too old, too grown together with the world, to move, but there are other ways to communicate with the world.
- There are humans now. And humans can dream.
- Some grow mad with the thing that haunts their dreams - their nightmares. Some kill themselves as something echoes within their skulls and threatens to shake loose everything that they are.
- But some listen. Some can hear and understand. Or come as close to understanding as a human can get. They do not grow mad, but they... change. Because the truth has always had a way of changing things.
- There is prayer now. Words and images and hopes and dreams. A thousand voices that are young, but powerful in their number.
- The thing is... intrigued.
- And when a thousand voices cry at once in fear and desperation but also determined to live, it answers.
.
- Noctis’ dreams are full of fog at the start. He had sensed it, the moment his father had died and the weight of a nation had slammed down on him. The dreams protect him. At least he thinks they do.
- Sometimes he could swear he is not alone. A breeze that moves the fog like it is water, a glow, like sunlight reflecting on the ocean.
- It does not scare him as he thinks it should.
- But then again, he does not know how to be afraid of ancient infathomable things. He grows up with the crystal’s power in his blood, with its light dancing along his skin. Sometimes he could have sworn it sings to him. Not with words or even a melody. Maybe singing isn’t the right word, but there is something.
- And that something is here now. In the fog in his dreams. But at the same time it is not.
- What Noctis does not know - cannot know - is that the crystal is not the only ancient thing on Eos. That there is one other thing that-should-be-dead-but-is-not, and that thing can sense the tiny being touched by the crystal.
- The thing stirs yet again.
"Blitzy, I got you a thing!!" She nudges over a big wrapped box, inside is a state of the art, sleek looking mass displacement mod. She'd seen him look at them before on his datapad, and decided to surprise him with one! She researched them herself and picked the best one! It was a semi pricey model (to normal bots), but credits weren't something Rosanna really needed to worry about. If it makes him happy, it'll be extra worth it!!
When he opens it, he isn't sure what to expect, but after seeing the label he gasped.
"Rosie- ROOOSIIIIE!"
His face flung itself around to a jagged red grin, and he hastily plugged the mod into himself. A jolt, a shudder, and Blitzwing took a moment to install it in his hardware.
"Ohh Rosie you didn't have to- but- oh! Oh!!! Rosie!!!" He shifted his mass down, halved his size, then thirded it. At ten feet, he scooped Rosie up and hugged her close.
"Danke! Oh! Das ist wunderbar!"
Upgraded little mosaic to a big 20 gallon enclosure today! 😍
Although League turned me into a salt master sometimes whenever I played, and despite being somewhat bad at the game itself... I really miss playing and just having fun. Unfortunately, I can't run it on my systems and I don't think I'll be able to play it for another year or more probably.
