That’s a picture of William Kamkwamba from 2007. He was just a few months before his 20th birthday, but his accomplishment predated that picture by nearly seven years. It all started when he was around age 13, when he was kicked out of school because his family could no longer afford his school fees — a grand total of $80. The young Kamkwamba, though, didn’t give up on his education. He became a regular at the library, where he came across a book about windmills, how they can provide power even in remote areas, and how they’re built. And so he built one! And then another- and another! This is good news to combat the darkness in our world right now!

It's been a gazillion blog lifetimes ago since I last messaged you and we had the shortest conversation about poetry and how I loved yours and how you also apparently also read mine (gasp!!!) and that you loved mine too. It seriously made my day... Week... Year... Life honestly. I know things are really rough for you, and obviously we're not like ~friends~ (beyond like maybe mutual following and maybe the occasional liked post) but I really truly hope things smooth out for you and your loved ones soon. I think about you a lot and care about you, you're so inspiring and an amazing person. Sending you my love and support, and hopefully this wild wild ride of life can like, chill out for a second so you can get a breath of fresh air.

The Irish are repaying a favor from 173 years ago in Native Americans’ fight against coronavirus

About 20,000 Irish donors have sent $670,000 in donations to help buy food for Native Americans, as an effort to repay a favor when they were helped in their Potato Famine in the 1800s.
