Installation of modern machines started in Kanpur Metro Depot

The civil construction work of the 9 km long priority section of Kanpur Metro is now almost in its final stage and along with the preparation of Metro trial run on Priority Corridor, UP Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is also speeding up the construction work of Metro Depot at Polytechnic. Out of the seven major machines to be installed in Kanpur Metro Depot, the first one has become successful on 3rd July.

The installation work of seven major and biggest machines of Kanpur Metro Depot has started with the installation of a Fully Automatic CNC Under the Floor Pit Wheel Length Machine (for rail wheel turning).

What is the function of the floor pit wheel length machine?

The wheels of the metro train wear out unbalanced while moving on the track and braking, in which case the wheels of the train are brought in a balanced state by using a floor pit wheel length machine.

Other major machines to be installed at Kanpur Metro Depot

Fully Automatic Synchronized Pit Jack Machine: For raising and lowering metro coaches during maintenance.

Fully Automatic Synchronized Mobile Jack Machine: The function of this machine is also similar to that of a pit jack, only this machine can be moved from one place to another.

Bogie turntable: This machine is used to move the bogies (set of four wheels) of a metro coach from one track to another during maintenance.

Automatic Train Wash Plant: As the name suggests, it is used for automatic cleaning of metro trains.

Re-Guarding and Rescue Vehicle: To bring the Metro coach back on track in case the Metro train is de-railed on the main route or inside the depot.

The construction of IIT, the first metro station of the priority section of Kanpur Metro, is almost complete and this metro station has been decorated in a special way. The walls of the IIT Metro station depict engineering and technology with exquisite architectural artwork from the outside.

Lucknow Metro tie-up with wow taxi

Lucknow Metro is one of the most advanced rapid rail systems in the country. A lot of care has been taken by UP Metro for the convenience of the passengers of this metro system. Lucknow Metro coaches are also well equipped with modern technology. Strict steps have also been taken in Lucknow Metro for prevention from covid-19.

Keeping in mind the requirements of the commuters, Lucknow Metro has tied up with Wow Taxi to improve connectivity from the metro station to other areas of the city. This taxi service will provide fast, convenient, and economical connectivity to commuters from the metro station to their destination.

UP Metro, Director (Operations), Sushil Kumar inaugurated WOW Taxi Kiosk at Bhootnath Metro Station on Tuesday, July 20. The inauguration was attended by senior officials of UP Metro, the WOW Taxi team, and Metro commuters.

UP Metro, Director (Operations), Sushil Kumar said that we are constantly making efforts to make the daily commute of passengers in Lucknow Metro safe and comfortable. This is a unique initiative that will not only improve first and last-mile connectivity but will also increase the ridership of Lucknow Metro in the coming days.

He said, Wow Taxi not only offers affordable rides but also provides connectivity to your doorstep after you get off the train at the metro station. This partnership between UPMRC and Wow Taxi will further enhance mobility by connecting various places in the city with metro stations.

To book taxis, Wow Taxi will set up its kiosks at the six main metro stations of Lucknow Metro namely CCS Airport, Alambagh Bus Terminal, Charbagh, Hazratganj, Vishwavidyalaya, and Bhootnath Metro Stations.

Passengers alighting from Metro trains at these stations will be able to easily book taxis from WOW Taxi Kiosk to reach their destinations and avail comfortable and economical rides.

UP Metro organizing ten-day training session at Lucknow Metro

UP Metro Rail Corporation in association with ASCENT Amity University has started 10 days soft skills and business communication training session for the new recruits.

The training session was inaugurated by Keshav Kumar, Managing Director, UP Metro Rail Corporation in the presence of Ascent HOD and senior officials of UP Metro. The inaugural session was conducted by Prashant Dubey, DGM (Operations), UP Metro, the inaugural address was delivered by Ascent, HOD, Nalina Singh, and the keynote address were delivered by Keshav Kumar, Managing Director, UP Metro.

Addressing the new recruit, Ascent, HOD, Nalina Singh said that in my 25 years of being associated with large organizations I have never seen an organization like UPMRC which invests in its employees for their soft skill training and business communication skills.

Addressing the keynote address, Keshav Kumar, Managing Director, UP Metro said that once you enter the organization, there is no such thing as your own growth. It’s team play, that’s what behavior and soft skills teach you.

He further said that in an organization, the growth of the team is your growth and it is not the achievement of a single individual. Always remember, it is important to develop your mindset, that development which you have kept as your goal, which fills you with positivity, which gives purpose to move forward.

The ten days training will cover issues like personality development, professional communication, soft skills, behavioral conduct, dealing with the internal and external public. UP Metro regularly organizes such programs for the growth and development of its employees.

Kanpur Metro: 1km of track laid, survey for underground route started, and other progress

Kanpur Metro construction in full swing despite all covid-19 challenges

In the second wave of covid-19, where many government and non-government work came to a standstill, many development projects in the country were also badly affected. But now gradually the situation is returning to normal and the corona-curfew is also being relaxed in many states of the country. Although the threat of covid-19 has reduced it is not over yet, so there is still a need to take full precautions.

Despite all these challenges, the construction work of the Kanpur Metro Project by UP Metro Rail Corporation UPMRC is going on in full swing. UP Metro aims that in January next year, Kanpur Metro should be operational between IIT and Motijheel

Metro track laid from IIT to Kalyanpur metro station

In the 9 km long priority section of Kanpur Metro, the metro track has been laid for a distance of more than 1 km. The Metro track which started from IIT Metro Station has now reached Kalyanpur Metro Station. Last month, IIT had started laying the track on the mainline on the priority section by casting the first crossover.

In Kanpur Metro, 18–18 meter segments of rails are welded and several meters long rails are prepared and then they are laid on the tracks.

Metro Tracks is a complete system and Rails is only a part of it. The Metro track system includes rails, plinths, rail sheets, rubber pads, fasteners, etc., and many more.

Expressing satisfaction over the work of laying the track, UP Metro Managing Director Keshav Kumar said that the work of various systems is now in progress. The work of laying the tracks is also going on in full swing.

Successfully Erected 500th U-girders in 312 days

UP Metro has successfully erected the 500th U-girder of Kanpur Metro Priority Section near Geeta Nagar on 19th June. Along with this, the viaduct of the metro track up to about 7 km in the 9 km long priority section from IIT to Motijheel has been prepared.

The erection of the U-girder started on 11th August 2020 in the Priority section of Kanpur Metro and now the 500 U-girders have been successfully erected in about 312 days. A total of 622 U-girders are to have an erection in the priority section, out of which only 122 U-girders are left.

On this achievement, Keshav Kumar, Managing Director of UPMRC appreciated all the engineers of UP Metro.

The casting of all the U-girders in the Kanpur Metro Project is almost complete

The casting of the u-girder to be used in the priority section is also in the final stage. They are made in the casting yard located at Lakhanpur in Kanpur. Out of 622 U-girders used in Kanpur Metro, only 38 U-girders are yet to be cast. This work started on 20 January 2020.
