Reeducate your scapular! I watch many members go to the gym and do pull ups, rows, deadlifts, bench press, lat pull downs, shoulder presses, push-ups etc but most have poor scapular control. Poor scapular mobility and control will in most cases cause you to rotate your shoulders forward and use less efficient muscles for a given exercise or task. Over years this causes tightness in your chest and shoulder area! Especially if you work in an office based job. This can then promote poor thoracic extension (upper back spine) mobility and therefore put more stress on your lower back to compensate for poor upper back movement. If you have poor upper-back and shoulder function you are at an increased risk of shoulder pain (impingements or inflammation for example) and lower back pain (prolapse for example). This is just one of many things to consider when keeping the body free.
