Back in 2011-2012 mobility wasn’t a priority. I was big into heavy lifting and form came second to quantity of weight. At the time I thought I felt great but looking back my body lacked the mobility it needed. I was always in some kind of shoulder and lower back pain and my body was carrying more weight then it should’ve. Fast forward a year later after researching mobility, body weight, calisthenics, yoga, inversions and more, I began to understand how important movement was. READ CAPTION👇🏼✨ Want more range of motion in the shoulders? Find strength, mobility and flexibility within the shoulders with this simple exercise using a strap. . Often times we think pushing our chest out and arching the back creates a deeper bend in the shoulders. Instead for this particular exercise it’s only taking away from our target area. . The goal is to maintain a natural neutral spine. To do this: 1. shoulders away from the ears 3. Ribs in and up 4. Button to the spine 5. Tail bone towards the ground. You can do this standing or seated. 6. For less intensity start with your hands further apart, when you feel comfortable enough bring them closer together about shoulder width distance. 7. Inhale lifting your arms until you feel that stretch. 8. Exhale lower all the way down without losing engagement in the arms. (Be strong) 9. Been drilling back flag/ reverse meathook on rings + bar and today with a 👆🏻spot by Jordan was able to release on my better side. Still need to extend the arm more overhead and look up, but excited to hold it for a second! *Warning* This is not an easy or beginner move.
