Today, Upstate Escape makes an appearance on my blog again. We are working on a new full length release for the band, "Encore, Plus Fort", and they decided to release a new single from the album today. Click on the link above, and treat yourself to the soothing sounds of "Carefully Crafted Bed Head". 

Funny story about the song... I was in another band, Confab, with John and Bryan from Upstate Escape. We used to rehearse at the Music Building, midtown in NYC, and there was a very hipster Williamsburg band that rehearsed directly after our time slot. Even if we had all of our gear packed up and ready to go, if we were still in the studio hanging out 30 seconds into their slot, they would pull us aside and ask us to not be present when they showed up because it interrupted their creative energies and process. Brooklyn bands. Sheesh.

In any case, this track was recorded at the Music Building in NYC, and Hot Pump (the alias for the studio that is my bedroom). Aside from mixing and engineering the track, I also scream "Hey" a few times. Enjoy!

2014-03-01 - Upstate Escape - Connoly's Klub Room

You've seen my friends from Upstate Escape make it to this blog quite a few times, and here they are again! The first midtown show that I think I've seen them at, upstairs in the Klub room at Connolly's.

The guys and I are working on wrapping up a second album together, and we should hopefully have it out to you all this Spring, so keep an eye out for that. For the time being, you can find more info on the band here:

Here's another song off of the new Upstate Escape album that I've been working on with my buddies. We did something a bit different in this one in that I wanted to document the process of making the song. So, you'll see individual takes of the recording spliced together in a sort of music video fashion. It came out pretty cool so give it a watch/listen!

Well, I've got a backlog of about 10 shows to put up on this blog, but I'm off to Greece for about 2 weeks so that will have to wait. In the meantime, here's a preview of a cut off the new Upstate Escape album I'm working on with my buddies from that band. You may recall that I helped record their previous album, "...Seriously Though".

The album is getting close to being finished and should hopefully be out sometime in the Fall or early Winter. For the time being, check Bryan out with a masterful take for an early mix of the song, "Precariously Arranged". I've got a lot of footage of the making of this album so I'm hoping to post more stuff like this in the future! For the gearheads out there, I have a listing of the mics used in this in the video description.
