[ SNATCH ]: sender snatches receiver's wrist as they turn to go. | takeshita > fletcher
it was stronger than him; even when the need to run from that conversation and all consequences grew rampant in his chest, gnawing at his bones from the inside, kyle held back, victim of konosuke's spell. "take," he huffed under his breath, rolling his eyes away only because looking at the handsome Japanese would make it all the harder to keep focus. "I don't know what else to say."
he was tired and defeated. but, most importantly, he was disappointed. finding take packing up his stuff wasn't in his bingo cards for the day. or ever. though, his efforts to try to dissuade the other from pursuing his decision seemed useless. kyle shrugged, ever so stubbornly pretending not to see all the problems that may have brought konosuke to his decision. "are you just going to leave? all of this? the family? me?" he cursed himself the second he realised he sounded whiny and desperate. kyle's eyes shot to the floor. "don won't forget it." he said between gritted teeth, more like a reminder than an observation. something that was branded in his memory. all of the family members were required to behave, be good, succeed, and listen to don's word like the word of a preacher. no doubts. no rebellions. just trust. and it mostly worked. mostly. because kyle was standing right by the very example of everything don condamned. "please, take?" he finally looked directly at the other, holding onto his beautiful almond-shaped brown eyes.
PIN ]: sender pins receiver against the wall during combat/sparring. | david > will
will absorbed the hit on his wide back, more concerned to brace himself, not to get whiplash and risk getting disoriented than anything else. his breath gets knocked out of his hollowed chest at impact, and his hands fumble on his aggressor's grasp, trying to find any weak spot or point of leverage. failing.
immobilised and far from surrendering, will's bright eyes shot on david's face, studying him, trying to investigate the other's intentions hiding under the pale surface of his icy gaze. "now what?" he taunted, coarse voice lowered, slipping out of a challenging grin. he grabbed onto david's wrist, willingly seeking his naked skin just so his silver rings could react with the other's allergic dermis. at its sizzle, will's grin grew. he knew the bite of silver on david's skin was no more than an uncomfortable nip, and still, he wanted to know he could affect the other in some way. leaving a scar even. how many did he leave already in the years they spent chasing and fighting and never going all the way? he wanted david to feel it. "c'mon then," he raised his chin in a quick invite. "is that all you got?"
[ GET DOWN ]: sender tackles receiver out of the way of danger. | drilla > gabe
it happened before he could even register. gabe's keen senses missed the threat entirely and by the time he realised the air shifted dangerously, he was on the floor, squeezed under the absolute mountain for muscles the other wolf was. "ah, fuck," he huffed with a grunt, not feeling the disorientation as much as when he was deafened by the sudden, raging concern as bullets started to blast. adrenaline pumped in his chest, making it hard to think clearly about anything that wasn't his brother's well-being.
gabe was thankful they ducked behind a corner, because his priority surely wasn't the fuckers who thought to surprise them. he was going to tear them apart later. "you ok?" he wondered, looking for the other's dark eyes, his grabby hands moved from part to part, making sure to assess that he hadn't been hit. "can't have you take a bulled for me, ey?" he shook his head. "who the fuck are these bastards?" he demanded once his concern for drilla's wellbeing was sated. he couldn't smell his blood, after all, that was a good sign. gabe's glacial look darted in the direction from where bullets and angry shouts came from, his priority now switched from making sure drilla was ok to keep him safe. "who did you piss off, uh?" he made the other move off him, only to push him behind himself. a dangerous smile spilled on his lips as he smelled the air, inhaling the hints of the scents their attackers carried. he licked his lips, savouring the idea of the raw flesh he was about to sink his teeth into.
He’s… What Now?
(aka: The Great Cosmic Miscommunication)
When Rin came out to his family as trans, they were supportive, patient, loving—the whole Hallmark package. When he came out as half-spirit?
Yeah, that support evaporated fast.
He and his sister Mara fled their hometown after their parents unveiled a shiny new weapon designed to “deal with” spirits—one that hit Rin square in the torso on his way out the door.
They hopped train after train until they found themselves in a gloomy, chaotic city called Blackwater, ruled by a surprisingly gentle city-spirit who welcomed them into her haunt without hesitation.
The problem? That weapon did real damage. The kind you can’t shake off.
Rin’s spirit-core had partially necrotized. That meant:
Random waves of pain
Sudden nausea
Mood swings
Days he couldn’t transform at all
Manageable in a city where he didn’t need to use his powers often—but definitely mood-ruining.
Still, they rebuilt their lives. New name. New haircut. New friends who respected both his gender and his otherworldliness.
And then he met Sol.
Sol was bright, funny, empathetic, and had also lost his parents in a… complicated way. Mara adored him. Rin adored him. His job was secretive, but Rin checked—no extermination agencies involved—so he didn’t pry. He just knew Sol’s entire family worked for the same big private foundation in the city.
Then came the dinner.
Everything was perfect. Rin, Sol, Mara, and the entire wonderfully weird household. Until Rin’s core suddenly burned like a star going supernova.
He barely made it to the bathroom before vomiting. Mara followed, steadying him as he retched.
“Is it the core?” she whispered.
“It’s fine,” Rin hissed, wiping his mouth. “Just—give me a second.”
They didn’t know two members of Sol’s family had followed and overheard. And completely misinterpreted the conversation.
To them? “Core” = obvious codeword.
For a baby.
Neither Rin nor Mara knew this.
Which is why, a week later, Rin walked into Sol’s family home… and found balloons, pink and blue confetti, and a giant banner reading:
CONGRATS, RIN!!
Rin: “...Congrats for what?” Sol, sweating: “Um. So. Funny story…” Sol’s brother: “DUDE. Did you get him pregnant?!” Sol: “NO?? WE DIDN’T—WE HAVEN’T—IT’S NOT—???”
Mara is in the corner laughing so hard she’s wheezing.
And Rin? He hasn’t even recovered from the core flare-up. Now he has to explain he’s half-spirit, not pregnant.
The cosmic embarrassment could power a small city.
