tech issues at school/work
So I recently became the IT guy for my school and was ready to start overhauling this majorly godawful outdated network. In the process of doing part of the over all, the network had a issue. After hours of troubleshooting and some other stuff, my co-worker and I wanted to come back on the weekend to understand the whole network layout is. Boss man freaks out and pretty much told me to fuck off. His IT guy comes out and finds the issue and fixes it. (A misplugged cable that I missed in the troubleshoot)
Ever since then, I have been on a leash. I browse reddit in my free time since I can't do the stuff that needs to be implemented. I keep hearing of all these new destructive malware and everything that would cripple the school if the network would to become infected again. We have stuff so outdated, it needs to be taken out back and shot. My co-worker and I is just waiting for the day when something like Cryptowall takes out the main databases and all.
I really hate how my college runs shit now
I like my classes a lot because I find them fun and easy. Only downside is EVERYTHING is basically online now. Everything is outsourced to so many other companies. If you are taking CIS-110 (Introductions to Microsoft Office Computers), you might be familiar with SAM. My college uses Blackboard for class management, homework stuff, and grades. Unfortunately, SAM and Blackboard does not communicate automatically. The class instructor has to update the grades in Blackboard. Well yesterday was end of my 2nd section. However, my Test Chapter 2 is still labeled as Upcoming on Blackboard and I cannot see if I turned it in on SAM because the gradebook is disabled for my class. I'm sitting here freaking out hoping I turned my test in because if not, it hurts my grade badly.
