The building I live in has been kindly- and well-managed by nice people for as long as I've lived here (almost 7 years). They've never raised my rent by more than $50/month per year, and sometimes didn't raise it at all. A different company bought the building a few months ago and only just told me, without legally enough notice, that they're raising my rent by $900 per month. And I had to chase them for that information! Not to mention all the other dumb stuff they've done in the brief time they've owned the building.
