ok so I’ve been seeing a lot of people say ‘Trump admitted to stealing the election 3 times’ but not a ton of contexts/quotes and I’m absolutely NOT defending him but I think it’s important to fact check stuff like that so that you don’t become an unreliable source.
The first is the most quoted, the shortened version saying ‘it’s only because they rigged the election that I’ll be your president’. Before that, he was talking about how the Olympics and World Cup will be in the US in the next four years, and how he’s happy to be president during that time. So it’s plausible that he could mean that he’s able to be president now because the 2020 election was stolen [if he had won he likely wouldn’t be allowed to run again in 2024], even though the out of context quote implies that he is admitting to winning the 2024 election through fraud.
The second I’ve only seen once so far, and is much longer so I may summarize a little bit. Trump says that he sent Elon Musk to campaign in Pennsylvania, and Elon ‘knows those computers better than anybody… those vote count-y computers’, before immediately continuing to say ‘and we ended up winning Pennsylvania … so thank you to Elon’. This one is much less grey in my opinion, because (in my opinion) there’s no reason to bring up Elon Musk knowing the intricacies of voting machines in this context unless he did something with them.
I’ve yet to encounter the third instance people are referencing, so I’d greatly appreciate more examples (preferably in video form) so that I can be more informed! To conclude for now, try to do your best to research context of quotes to avoid sharing misinterpretations and/or misinformation as fact, and- as always- fuck trump
