5 Star NE Black 14U Battles Through Rain to Get Games In
Despite rain showers threatening the weekend, 5 Star Northeast 14U showed resilience and determination, managing to get games in during the USABL 14U Gold Glove Classic Tournament. Unfazed by the weather delays and wet conditions, the team stayed focused and made the most of their opportunities on the field. With adjustments to schedules and a lot of hustle, 5 Star Northeast 14U competed hard, finishing the tournament with a 1-2 record.
Saturday Game 1: 5 Star NE Black 14U Falls Short Against FB Braves 2029s, 7-5
After falling behind early, 5 Star NE Black 14U showed resilience, taking a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second inning, capitalizing on a pair of walks and aggressive baserunning. They extended their advantage to 5-3 in the fourth, thanks to clutch singles from Tommy Lynch and Gil O’nell, who sparked the offense.
Jianluca Romano got the start (3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 SO).
Carter Stute came in relief (1 2/3 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 SO)
Gil O’nell led 5 Star NE Black 14U with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-1 on the day.
Tommy Lynch, Gil O’nell, Joshua Wellen, and Billy McCormick each collected one hit for 5 Star NE Black 14U.
Sunday Game 2: Lawrence Drives in Four as 5 Star NE Black 14U Tops NJ Rising Rebels 14U
Lawrence got the offense rolling early, delivering a single down the left field line in the first inning to score a run. He broke the game open in the second inning with a bases-clearing triple, driving in three more runs and putting 5 Star firmly in control.
The team’s six-run second inning proved decisive, fueled by a Jack Haeussler RBI triple, a bases-loaded walk by Jianluca Romano, an NJ Rising Rebels error, and Lawrence's big hit.
Marcus Morrison was dominant, allowing just 2 H, 0 R, 2 IP, 2 K.
Ethan Snyder came in strong in relief, throwing two more shutout innings with 2 Ks, 1 BB.
5 Star added five more runs in the fourth, featuring doubles from Romano and Lawrence.

Sunday Game 3: Tough Outing for 5 Star NE Black 14U Against Iron Nine 14U (Red)
5 Star NE Black 14U faced a tough challenge in their final game of the weekend, falling 13-0 to Iron Nine 14U (Red) after a difficult first inning set the tone early.
Iron Nine jumped out fast, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first, aided by a combination of defensive miscues, timely hitting, and aggressive baserunning. Despite the rough start, 5 Star battled through the remainder of the game with resilience, continuing to compete on every pitch.
Ethan Snyder started for 5 Star NE Black. The LHP struck out two batters in one inning but was tagged for seven runs, only two of which were earned.
Tommy Lynch provided a spark with his hustle on the base paths, stealing two bases
