This week’s artifacts from the @YogiBerraMuseum are from an incredible day in #YogiBerra history. After a 14-year feud with George Steinbrenner that kept the @Yankees legend away from @YankeeStadium that whole time, Yogi was to be feted and officially welcomed back during a big ceremony slated for Sunday, July 18, 1999 — #YogiBerraDay. Fans were ecstatic to have #Yogi back and his battery mate for the only #perfectgame in #WorldSeries history, #DonLarsen, was also there for the pregame ceremonies. And guess what happened… Yankee pitcher #DavidCone @Coney3636 throws a perfect game of his own: a 6-0 masterpiece over the #MontrealExpos — with Yogi and Larsen in attendance: This is Cone’s game used hat from that magical day and a baseball he signed and inscribed. Yogi once said, “If the world were perfect, it wouldn’t be.” But it sure was that day. ⚾️8️⃣ (at Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmufkALvIKf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
This week’s artifact from the @YogiBerraMuseum is a #baseball signed by #DonLarsen and inscribed “WSPG 10-8-56.” Yep, 66 years ago, with #YogiBerra as his battery mate, Larsen hurled the only #perfectgame in #WorldSeries history — an astonishing achievement.
