FAN FICTION #44 Hermione x Bellatrix
I had a system for this...and now I'm just sort of posting random pairings. I will be diving into the RWBY fanfic world soon, possibly Buffy, so I'll be expanding the territory of my recommendation list. I still have way too many titles to post and not enough time.
Murder Most Horrid by Useful Oxymoron summary: "In a world where Voldemort never existed, Bellatrix Black is a cynical and dour detective working for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, subdivision Magical Homicides. When she is tasked to solve a murder at Hogwarts, a certain resident genius called Hermione Granger happens to be her prime suspect."
My thoughts: Murder Most Horrid is divided into 3 story arcs, the third one still updating (frequently enough). The summary covers the first arc, which is set in a world in which Bellatrix is not the evil underling of Voldemort, but rather a detective. Mind you, just because she works in law enforcement doesn't mean she lost any of her upbringing. She starts off as a muggleborn-hating pureblood who was cast away from the Black family for refusing her arranged marriage. She's alone...until the day there is a murder at Hogwarts.
Hermione starts off as nothing more than a suspect. But as the case wears on, Bellatrix finds herself a bit closer to Hermione than she would have ever thought.
The next two arcs are set 2-4 years after the end of the first. The relationship and dynamic between Hermione and Bellatrix continues to grow and strengthen over the years through the many trials they face.
It's a great read, very well crafted, and highly recommended if you're looking for something a little different from the I'm-going-to-torture-and kill-you Bellatrix.
