Apple Releases Ad for iPhone 6s Featuring Cookie Monster
In the 60-second video titled “Timer,” Cookie Monster uses iPhone 6s’ hands-free Siri feature to ask the device to play him a song while he bakes cookies. It is activated when a user says, “Hey Siri.” Your latest phone is looking a touch worn, especially as it looks exactly like the phone that came before it. You’ve got to create some excitement. In times like these, you reach for a star. Apple…

Things that people should come with:
- A user rating out of 5 stars. (For friendship only, relationship things are biased)
- Religion/Culture, so not to offend
- Political views (I can't be friends with Romney supporters)
- A note about their habits
- Their alcohol tolerance
- Favourite shows and fandoms and OTPs
- A pizza.
thought on movie The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
my rate: 4.9 out of 10
People are crazy about this movie. I get it.
But what an easy ending and it's non-stop action. That's all there is, isn't it? Tell me what else is there?
-----
I found this movie when this movie was one of top 100 horror genre from imdb.com so maybe I expected too much.
But I wasn't wrong about the movie.
See this drklabs's review: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur20929448/comments or http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1259521/reviews?filter=hate
I could say this movie is suitable for action and science fiction genre.
User Ratings: 3.5/5 Stars, Is it relevant?
Rounding up my previous two posts on reviews and ratings, I wanted to call out why I think the Amazon popularized (correct me if I am wrong here) star ratings is not necessarily helpful.
What you see above is a typical representation of rating on Amazon.com. It surely is a vast improvement over just saying, 4.3 out of 5 stars, since they break it down by the number of shoppers across each of the star values. However,
Ratings aren't very helpful?
1) Not all the raters have actually used the product being rated. It is very difficult to restrict the ratings only to shoppers who have purchased the product. This is even more pronounced for other retailers who hardly get the same volumes of reviews and ratings that Amazon gets.
2) When we seek an overall score, the criteria used by individual raters will invariably be different. For example, if you look at the example below, ease of set up features both in PROS as well as CONS. So, the users may have rated highly (or low) affecting the overall rating.
3)The rating is easy to game. If a few shoppers click on a low rating it will pull down the overall number. Setting up systems to detect malicious ratings may actually outweigh the benefits of the ratings.
4) It really doesn't add to the "knowledge" of the shopper. Is a 3 star product worse than a 4 star product?
Why is ebay rating system is better?
Ebay doesn't have rating on individual products. It has a rating for the sellers.
It addresses a key aspect in the ebay model, which is credibility of sellers. What is more credible than shoppers providing direct feedback.
Next,
The rating is sought from buyers, against very specific questions. Items as Described, Communication, Shipping Time and Shipping and handling charges.
When we seek a rating about a particular aspect of the product or service, the number 4.5 stars makes absolute sense. It adds to the knowledge of the shopper. Helps them in their buying decision process.
So what next?
I'd bequite happy to see generic Ratings disappear from ecommerce sites. It is a bigger risk for a retailer than a helpful aide for the shoppers.
It'd be better if we sought ratings on particular aspects of products and service. After all, visually representing shopper opinion is better than text reviews. To enable this, we need to identify questions for each product category that are not addressed in the features and specifications of the products. For instance, we can validate marketing claims by the brands - Is the shirt really wrinkle-free? Is the display smudge resistant?
All in all, the need to simplify presentation should not overpower the knowledge shared.
