it’s a scrap of lined paper you find at the bottom of your bag. the writing is messy, just a scribble of ink before you examine it closely, and it reads:

“hey comrade! sorry i haven’t been in contact for a while”— in brackets, he writes “harbinger duties!” next to it— “but once i’ve run all my errands, let’s go get something to eat together! maybe you could help me master how to use chopsticks? you don’t have to give a response now, i’ll tell you when i’m free, ok?”

there isn’t a signature or anything, but you already knew who it’s from just by reading the first two words. now, how did he slip this into your bag without you realizing it?

the letter itself is inside a plain paper envelope, locked behind a wax seal. is this the logo of the wangsheng funeral parlour? nevermind that, because the paper is clearly one of high quality; it has a smooth surface and just thick enough so that you can barely see the ghosting on the other side. his pen of choice compliments his perfect-cursive handwriting, with the curves of each letter and the sharp ‘swoop’ at the end of every word. it reads:

“i apologize for a letter out of the blue, but i wrote this when inspiration struck so i hope you may forgive me.

walking through the city at the end of my day allows me to reminisce a little about the past. today, in particular, a quaint shop caught my eye and so i ventured in. upon my inspection i realized this was a place from where i could buy stationary. did you know a shop like this exists in liyue? perhaps we could visit it together someday. the shopkeeper told me most of the products they sold were imported from other nations. in the end, i decided to purchase a fountain pen, imported from fontaine. it is magnificently crafted— a shining gold nib that is nothing but a pleasure to work with. would something from this shop interest you? i personally would love to tell you the background of writing through this letter— anything ranging from stories, poetry, or song— but i must keep it brief until we can meet face-to-face and talk in-depth.

i hope you take good care of yourself and your health. when you join me again for a stroll, do remind me to bring you here. and do not worry about the mora; it will be on me, i promise.

you find the letter beside what looks like a bottle of.. skincare product? the letter is a small, cream-coloured page ripped out from a notebook and neatly folded in half to fit inside the inconspicuous box you found at your doorstep. it reads:

“comrade, today i noticed the scars you got from our previous sparring sessions! while i tend to wear them like medals, sometimes they heal in an unsightly way, so this is a bottle of ointment from snezhnaya that i frequently use to treat my wounds. i hope it works out well for you. if you need any more, ask for some at the northland bank and i’ll be happy to provide you with it! take care of yourself, comrade.”

his words of comfort are.. awkward at worst, but at least he’s trying, no?

you can’t help but think that the way he slipped an icy blue piece of cardstock— folded in half, of course— under your door is very... chongyun-like of him. other than the colour, there is nothing that’s special about the paper itself.

his writing is the right balance between messy and neat— legible, but a bit of a mess at first glance. of course, the cardstock is lineless, so you can’t help but laugh seeing how his sentences tilt downwards as they continue. his letter reads:

“i noticed you were having a bad day today. i am always trying to keep my emotions stable, but sometimes i can’t help but notice other people’s feelings and feel the urge to keep their emotions stable as well. i hope that didn’t come out wrong, now that i realize how i worded it.

what has gotten you in a bad mood? did xingqiu pull a mean prank on you too? come to me and we can form a “victims of xingqiu” alliance together.

you recognize the bird’s cry easily. your head tilts to watch the skies and you spot it; the white underbelly, framed by its oak brown wings. the moment you raise your elbow up, diluc’s hawk lands easily on your forearm. its talons curl tightly around your limb, and yet it leans into your touch when you lift your hand to gently pet its beak.

“pretty bird,” you coo as you easily untie the message on its foot. you pocket the familiar red ribbon— you must have a hundred of those by now— and read the scrap of paper:

“have you been well? i’ve personally been too busy doing paperwork at the dawn winery. the next time you pass by, do come in and say hello and i’ll have the freshest apple cider prepared for you. do tell me about your ventures as well, i’d be glad to hear them.”

you barely had time to react (and much less to comprehend) when vile pulled you aside into a cramped alleyway between two large, towering houses on an empty street— in broad daylight, no less!

“here,” she whispered, tucking an envelope between your fingers and your thumb. “that gentleman told me to give this to you under complete secrecy, but you really do love the wide open, don’t you?” she scoffed. “anyways, open it in private and burn this right after you’re done with it.”

you blinked once, twice, and she was already gone.

so here you are now, analyzing the envelope as much as you can beside weak candlelight. the envelope is plain, unassuming; the stamp used on the wax seal is blank, and the envelope itself is made of plain paper with no writing anywhere.

it is ordinary, up until you tear it open. the paper is adorned with a beautiful, calligraphic border. the writing even matches the decoration; beautiful, smooth cursive with its bold swoops and thin edges. you adjust your hands so you can hold the letter a bit more carefully— it screams “expensive” and you would hate to ruin it. you read it slowly, savouring the words and admiring how glamorous your name looks in cursive:

“i’d like to thank you for helping me yesterday. it was just a small slip of the tongue, but it was truly a miracle that you were there to cover for me even if you didn’t know what was going on. i am in your debt.

though i wouldn’t be much of a gentleman if i didn’t thank you properly, now, would i? they do actions speak louder than words. then, allow me to arrange a time and place for us so that i may be able to thank you properly. perhaps over a meal— maybe dinner?— at good hunter? tomorrow, at 8pm. be there, will you?”

Hello! I hope this request doesn’t become a bother but I was wondering if you could write a part two of your recent fic? It’s the angst with Zhongli and his S/O separating because he found a new love. I honestly felt physical pain in my chest reading that- it felt so unfair to love someone, have them love you back and then one day they just move on. It’s less painful if the other party were cruel about it but Zhongli stayed polite and did his best through and through. It’s so hard to hate them because deep down, despite being resentful and jealous you can still sympathize with them.

The creative aspect is yours to mold as you wish but if possible, could you write about the S/Os experience in moving on as well? Maybe the stages of grief they went through and their development of finding themselves again after giving their all to Zhongli and maybe, just maybe, they’ll find a new lover who’s love is mural to theirs? Maybe Zhongli becomes jealous, but I also like the idea of them just meeting again after a long period of time and just talk about life and how things have been. S/O has healed and became a better person and both of them are enjoying life with different people.

If you’re taking this thank you very much but don’t feel pressured to write about this. Either way thanks for reading through my little rant!

it really is hard to see the person you love suddenly move on like that, isn’t it? i wrote the drabble after reading a few angst fics revolving around about the same topic of “breakup.” there’s always other stories and other perspectives in every single relationship, right? some die out slowly and some end with a bang, kind of like stars :’) i don’t know where i’m going with this;;;

but your perspective on the drabble was really nice to read! you don’t see many fics telling the afterstory, and it’ll be a new writing experience for me personally, so i am considering a sequel to anagapesis. reading your ask gave me a good idea on what readers want to see. thank you for giving me feedback on the drabble!

an interesting take anon!! but the plot was that reader somehow found a way into the genshin universe to live as the traveller (so lumine/aether never existed in the first place) but they realize that there’s probably people waiting for them in the real world (our universe) and leaves. childe forgets them, and the reader-traveller is replaced by lumine/aether in childe’s mind.

i hope that made sense TT time travel au’s are so confusing;;;

Hi! I was wondering if I could have a romantic matchup..?

Call me Storian, she/they, INFP-A, bisexual leaning on males, cancer sun Leo moon Sagittarius rising.

My hobbies and interests are reading, writing, drawing, listening to music, dancing, singing, and basically anything creative. I like creativity and stories. I also like the smell of books, one could see me inhaling the smell of books, I also have a fondness for aesthetics and poems. I've always been fond of animals, however I can't have an animal companion since I have a.. Rather strict home. I also like fairy tale stories (one could find me favoring the villain more than the knights and princesses.)

My dislikes are.... Too much noise, too much screaming. I value my peace, silence, so I'm not fond of too much noise. At all, I can only handle so much. I also don't like it when people raise their voice with a hostile tone in their voices, it stresses me out. Please don't peer pressure me as well. I dislike peer pressure. I value friendship, however I also believe we have our own paths and interests as individuals. I dislike people who cross boundaries, although I do my best to be understanding. I also like to be open-minded, to look into situations in different angles before making my solutions.

I'm a timid and distant person towards almost everyone except those whom I feel like I have a mutual connection with. Usually polite. But with people whom I consider my mutual friends, I'm brighter. I can joke around with them, tease and pull little pranks. But if you're close to me, my best friend or my lover, expect for me to be so comfortable that I'd show you my caring and doting side. I'm the shoulder to cry and lean on, the ear that would listen to your venting, the one who can offer advices and console you and even if I not find of other people clinging to me, I can provide hugs of comfort.

I mentioned that I don't like other people clinging to me before, and I do. However, it's another case around people whom I hold very close to my heart. I consider touch as an intimate form of affection. It's how I show my love for the people I care for, other than words of affirmation.
