If there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven, do you think there's an elevator to purgatory? Not quite as fun as a highway, and not as hard as a staircase, just... generally boring and slightly awkward.

I'm upset and feeling lonely
I had a very stressful day at work today
I thought I'd have therapy and actually talk to someone that isn't from work but my therapist cancelled with me
Hello to the recent new crop of follows!
Here's a few things you should know and agree with or fuck right off:
Black Lives Matter
Indigenous and Brown Lives Matter
Queer Lives Matter
Trans Lives Matter
(I can't believe I have to STILL SAY THESE THINGS)
Don't try and tell me "queer is a slur" and don't tag any of my posts or reblogs with that or "q-slur"
Similarly TERFS and FARTS fuck off
Feel free to punch nazis and the fash, I'll bandage your knuckles. Keep your wrist straight and your thumb outside of your fist. Practice punching on softer things than nazi skulls.
Almost entirely All Cops Are Bastards, (american) because by default they participate in and uphold the legitimacy of a bastardous shitty racist sexist queerphobic white supremacist AND classist system that holds down and deems "less worthy" over 50% and probably closer to 85-90% of the US population.
Sex is good and pleasure is good for you
No puritanical bullshit or slut shaming.
Every. Human. Being. Deserves food, clean water, healthcare, and a healthy and well supported public infrastructure including schools, hospitals, mental health care, roads, bridges, etc.
Art is good for you, go make some.
Don't like that art? Don't be a dick, keep scrolling and let that other person like what they like. Block that blog or that tag.
Do not come for me and argue contra these positions, I am a history nerd and ex librarian and ex teacher with a whole cadre of folks I can outsource research to. But I'll probably just banhammer you if you're a jerk.
Life is too fuckin' short, tell your friends that you love them. Be excellent to each other.
Plant seeds and trees and share your food with other people.
Lastly: get out there and do something that makes the world suck less. Some days it's just reblogging a meme, some days you save the world. It's a spectrum.
I don’t feel like writing.
But @lynalexandria said I should, so I guess I will.
Hahaha! my phone has "cockwarming" in the voice to text. My life is complete. Happy pornographer is happy.
For Temperance.
There is no healing without safety.
This was true for me. Is it a universal?
Safety includes being safe from violence: verbal, physical, emotional, financial or other.
Safety includes housing/shelter and food where you don't have to worry about not having either of those things.
Safety includes unimpeded access. To clean water. For drinking, cooking and washing.
Safety includes being able to get medical care when you need it, including mental health.
Safety includes also, that your loved ones are safe under these criteria, too.
Some people, I reckon, haven't ever been unsafe. Some people have never been vulnerable under these conditions.
I needed to be safe to heal. And I didn't know what safe felt like, till I got here, and started to heal.
And now I fight for others to be safe. Because if you're not safe, it's almost impossible to heal, to learn, to grow, to make your life and the lives of those you love BETTER.
That's it. That's my goal for the world. And I'll work and fight to help us all get there, which means I'll never be done.
But maybe the world will be a little better.
#hopepunk #everyone deserves safety
This is the Temple Galaxia, from BRC 2018.
I've volunteered as a Temple Guardian for 4/5 years I've been to the Burn. The Temple speaks to me, as it speaks to many others.
People are more respectful and compassionate to each other here at the temple than they are anywhere else at the Burn, and people at the Burn are already twice as open-hearted and generous, in my experience, than 80% of humans I meet off-Playa.
We come to the Temple to Breathe. To Grieve. To Meditate. To Remember. To purge that which we are Done With.
I once saw a woman in a wedding dress hiking out to the Temple with three suitcases, small, medium and large. I later saw those suitcases, with words written all over their surfaces, stacked neatly again a Temple wall, and I heard from a friend that she also stripped off the wedding dress and hiked back into the City in her underwear and hiking boots.
You can LITERALLY leave your baggage at the Temple. 👰💐🧳🎨🎻📨
I write letters and memorials to loved ones and use a 📌to pin it to the walls. You can take ✏️ and write your message directly on the boards. 2018 was the year I learned that an older dance friend, Stan, had died just days before I headed out. On behalf of the community and myself, I wrote his name and his love of dance with a green sharpie, and that we all loved him.
Sometimes you go to the Temple to remember. Sometimes you go to forget. There's as many reasons to spend time there as there are Burners who visit.
Dark moon releasing ritual
Good to start a ritual like this around dusk. I have a candle and a quiet place, a pencil or pen and paper, a bowl with some water and a set of up to a dozen tokens: buttons, beads, the little glass rocks decorators use, maybe seeds, or pebbles. Your choice based on what you have on hand.
Settle yourself in a calm or quiet space. Light the candle or other light, (fire is nice but not necessary) and settle your mind and your focus.
On the paper list the feelings you want to release (fear, worry, anger, resentment, etc as you have need.) Place one token on top of each item you want to let go of. Name it aloud if you want to, or just say it in your head.
Remove one token at a time and rinse it in the water bowl, envisioning the calm feeling that happens after you finish having your feelings and return to yourself.
When you finish rinsing all your tokens, tear up the paper in a zillion tiny pieces. (It's quite satisfying 😄)
If you want to work on bringing the things towards you that you want more of: world peace, end to hunger, a new love, a safe heart, health... As you have need... you can take each token and name one quality you want to draw towards yourself. As you repurpose each token, set it safely aside. When you're done, collect all the newly dedicated tokens in a tray, glass or bowl. If you like, set them in a windowsill or someplace you can notice them for the next two weeks (when the moon is full 🌝) at which point you can restore them to their everyday use as buttons or marbles or stones.
