A Message from Your Hairstylist
It’s about time you and I had THE TALK, don’t you think? I’m tired of watching you run around with unhealthy hair.
I know you can do better. You’re gorgeous! Now, start acting like it. Start treating your hair with the respect it deserves.
Forget everything you know about hair washing.
No more scratching your scalp with your fingernails.
No more destroying your hair with scalding hot water.
No more cheap, drug-store quality hair products.
No more towel-drying your hair until the ends break.
No more washing your hair EVERY day….
Stop it! You’re ruining your hair!
Care for your hair with proper products.
Here’s the deal – your hair has natural oils that help maintain its sheen. Washing it daily (and with non-professional products) removes those oils, so use a cap and only wash your hair every other day at the most. Also, when you use harsh chemicals and colorants, the natural balance is thrown off and you have to supplement, just like you do for your body. Otherwise, your hair will dry out, break and generally look dead.
If you don’t use chemicals, this doesn’t excuse you from the talk.
I saw your shower. Those shampoos you have in the bathroom are made up mainly of wax and alcohol. You thought you were sly and would buy the cheap stuff without me noticing, right? WRONG. That wax has built up on your hair, causing it to lay limp and block the pores on your scalp where new growth comes in. And you just thought it was stress causing that bald spot – HA!
Use only salon quality products. Believe me, your hair will thank you.
Wash with warm, rinse with cool.
See, your hair is just like your skin.
Hot water opens the hair follicles and fibers so you can wash out the product, build-up and grime. Cold water closes the follicles and fibers, protecting your hair from damage.
Towel dry in the direction your hair grows.
Your hair is made up of fibers that open and close much like an umbrella or shutters on a window. You have to take care when the fibers are open or damage will occur to your hair.
Your hair is an expression of you, and closely tied to the first impression you make. Be sure your hair represents you as a clean, confident and well-managed person!
