I think what kills me the most about the El Paso shooting is the man wasn't even from EP. He was from Allen TX, he specifically targeted our city, drove 9 hours to get to El Paso, and was racially motivated to hurt our people. He didn't know what it's like to be an El Pasoan, what it means to be familia where everyone is a mija or mijo.
But what gives me hope about the situation is how quickly we came together to support those that were injured. United Blood Services had to start turning people away because of how many people showed up to donate blood.
You can try to strike fear in our hearts but we're El Paso Strong and your hate will never overcome our love.
