Gypsy Danger at the Chicago Improv Festival

Gypsy Danger is a house team at The People's Improv Theater in New York. They improvise movies and they are heading to the Chicago Improv Festival.

Gypsy Danger is a house team at The People’s Improv Theater in New York who performs a 30 minute improvised movie. They open with a trailer and create a full movie based on an audience suggestion and audience selected genre. For over 2 1/2 years, Gypsy Danger has perfected their version of the Improvised Movie. The audience suggests the genre and a never before seen movie is born. The team ended its tenure on The People’s Improv Theater’s Wednesday night in January 2016, and is now a headliner for the theater’s Saturday night. With committed characters and unpredictable plot lines, Gypsy Danger delights audiences with its contagious energy. Will it be a thriller? A rom-com? A sci-fi? Don’t be afraid. Just give in!

“At CIF in 2014, we asked the audience for a suggestion “at the height of your intelligence”. The suggestion we got: “porn”. But we took that suggestion and created a hilarious, and weirdly touching, story about a town where none of the parents would talk to their kids about sex until they were encouraged to break out of their shells by a bunch of porn they found in the woods (if this is sounding like “Footloose” to you, that is not an accident). Just about anything can be turned into a great show, and sometimes the more challenging starts create the most fulfilling stories.” –Joanna Shaw Flamm

Gypsy Danger is performing in the Genre Category at the 19th Chicago Improv Festival. Their show is at 11:00pm on Saturday night May 7th at the Under The Gun Theater in Wrigleyville. They share the stage with Stranded with Strangers from Pittsburgh and Improvised Kurt Vonnegut from Chicago.
