I really like this new single by Uther Moads, who've mutated from the sleek digital soul of their last appearance here a couple years ago into a stately, jazzy rock trio. "Econoclast" is almost as spare as that earlier piece, but it's got a sophistication of arrangement that makes me think of bands like Do Make Say Think. Looking forward to hearing more from this phase of the project! I also especially like the lyrics' detournement of the language of economics — a lot of interesting possibilities in some of those tired phrases.

Uther Moads - Breakdown

A conceptual, inner dance through lazer beams in a lonely night club is taking place in Rhodri Karim's video (directed by Tarek Elshawarby) for the electronic pop delight of Breakdown. With his Uther Moads moniker, this london based producer has conceived a slow dance pop stairway to the vibrated crooner of his voice with all the ingredients of the instant classic choreographing this blissful moment of intimate pop music.
