hi! i've always been interested in viking history but the show has spurred me into action, so i was wondering if you could rec me any good history books on the vikings? i have absolutely not preferences, thanks!

If you only read one book on the Vikings, let it be The Viking World (2001), which is made up of contributions from all the leading experts on topics ranging from ship building to art to daily life. You might also try The Vikings (1999). They’re both for general readers and an excellent place to start. If you find one aspect of their history interests you, the bibliographies will help you hunt down more detailed information.

hi! i mean no bother but could you explain what's going on in the gifset you made of merlin and arthur as boxers? i've gathered that merlin sees a picture of arthur and another dude and gets upset then locks himself away from arthur, could you explain the rest? if you've already explained this feel free to point me there, thanks! c:

hi! it’s no bother at all, don’t worry. :> so, um, i don’t think i really had a solid storyline in my head of what was going on until about partway through making the gifset, but this is what it turned out to be in my head (sorry for the long reply omg):

we have merlin (who for one reason or another gets beat-up a lot in the present idek let’s blame parked jkjk), who sees a photograph of reincarnated!arthur, and it’s his first time properly seeing arthur since his death. merlin—whether he’s been reincarnated or if it’s the same merlin that’s waited thousands of years even idk lol—has regained/is still haunted by his memories of arthur’s death (which is what the mini ~flashback sequence~ was about). 

he makes the decision to seek out arthur, except as much as he’s missed him, it’s still pretty damn overwhelming seeing him alive after all these years, which is why merlin leaves so abruptly. (idk, the way i see it is, as happy as merlin would be to have arthur back, i feel like no matter how much time he had spent rehearsing what he was going to say arthur when he first saw him, the initial impact would be too much for his conflicting emotions—happiness, sadness, guilt, etc. it would take him just a bit of time to process the fact that arthur has actually returned.)

of course, arthur sees him, except he has no idea who this person is; but then he gets his own ~flashback~ of merlin as he once knew him. this prompts him to follow merlin, and ends with a confrontation at merlin’s flat, because we all know how demanding the once and future prat can be when he wants answers rofl. 

so yes there’s my little spiel haha. like i said though, i kind of went in to it without a proper storyline. i was going to add dialogue to clear up any confusion, but i decided against it because i wanted those that see the gifset to come up with a storyline of their own, like you did. :> so don’t think yours is wrong or anything! i think multiple interpretations are very cool, and i hadn’t even considered a scenario like the one you suggested, which i find fascinating. C: i hope this cleared up any confusion, but really, if this made you come up with your own headcanon, then i think the gifset has fulfilled it’s purpose! x
