What do you mean I have a favourite dress. Two outfits from last weekend using the same dress. First two are from our somewhat annual buy/sell/trade meet. And the last two are from Utrecht canal pride the before.

Another gorgeous and amazing Utrecht Pride this year! No face paint because it was way too hot but there were enough rainbows to go around!

Some of the highlights:

The queer unicorns group app for preparations was appropriately queer and rainbowy and has made me happy all week!

Finding a place to watch Pride by the canal that was both wheelchair accessible and doable for those of us that have sensory overload issues

The boat for the city of Utrecht which had so many different flags including a lot of trans representation. This whole thing makes me so proud of my city!

So many rainbows!

All the teachers, police officers, doctors, train personnel, soccer players, IT nerds, politicians and gamers representing! It's so important that queer people in these professions are seen, both because it's important to see that they are welcome in these professions and to allow other people, who need them, to see that there are queer folk in these professions and that they can safely approach them

So many organisations do things for queer people and that's amazing

We had one (1) token hetero in our group :D (she is amazing and I love her so much!)

There was a boat from an elderly home and this one lady in a wheelchair caught my eye and grinned from ear to ear as she waved her flag. Made me tear up.

So many colours and sparkles and beautiful queer people all over!

The boat from an organisation for mentally disabled people and the fact that they actually had residents along. They looked sup damn proud and happy to be there!

So much intersectional stuff all over!

There was an actual rainbow in the sky!

Gods I love pride so much and every year I find myself thinking I should engage with the queer community more.

Thank everyone who made this day amazing and beautiful and colourful, you are all amazing and I love you.

My Utrecht pride

To the 3 boys holding their hetero pride cardboard signs on the bridge.

I saw you looking at the people, laughing, you probably thought it would be a great idea and the online space you inhabit probably told you it was.

I think you are lucky the lady just ripped the signs from your hands and gave you a stern talking to.

I saw you and wanted to let you know what we had to endure to be able to hold our pride.

I hope you learned something, I saw you looking, I saw you hesitantly turning your sign, you were scared weren't you?

Cause we were with many, and you were just with three.

We had to fight to hold those signs, you never have and never will.

If you had to fight, it seems you would lose.

Where is your pride? Where is your hetero pride?

Getting Groceries

Suzie hesitated. She could just stay inside, warm and cosy, with a cup of tea, a good book and her cat. Was there really any need to brave the outside world? But she had promised her mum she would pick up some groceries, and tomorrow they predicted rain, so it would probably be best to just get it over with now. Deep breath. Putting her jacket on. Stepping out of the door. She almost didn't look up, until she suddenly saw the swirling colours. A burst of happiness into the grey street. Suzie smiled, remembering there were more people just like her in the world, just a step around the corner.
