to start off i'll introduce the main characters of Atia (one of many stories within the realm of Utzu)

Violet Kaymarin, Cerfel Custodes, xe/xyr: the lone survivor of the Custodes. Xe miraculously survived the purge of xyr people and work tirelessly to keep what little remains of the culture alive despite the efforts of a being called The Edud and the Lux Aeterna/Lumateruz. Not only do xe possess the ancient powers of the Custodes, xe can also traverse memories.

Xe're a fierce and loyal friend, and while xe are eternally grateful that xyr friends are helping xem, xe worry that they'll get hurt and meet the same fate as their people.

Alex Casboe, Oracle Sprite, she/they: a child to the leaders of a town called Styke, located on an island named Faios, its the closest land to Atia before the mainland. One of Vi's oldest and closest friends, she's a key part in the fight against the Lumateruz. With a combination of Illusion and Spirit magic, Alex makes the perfect Oracle. Their visions often reflect of the shiny surface of her wings.

Most assume her to be rough and unapproachable, especially after a fight or sparring session with Vi, but despite her less than warm exterior Alex is easily one of the kindest people around.

Milo Casboe, Dryad, ze/zir: Alex's twin brother, ze wield a mix of nature and lightning magic. Loud, feisty, chaotic and loyal, ze's never backed down from a fight and often is the one to start them.

Kai Sivoh, Magma Sprite, he/him: a lifelong friend to the twins and Vi. Kind and patient as he is, he makes for a formidable foe. He typically takes a backseat during fights, preferring to heal his friends and control any crowds that try and interfere.

Very few people have been able to master the healing fires as well as he has, especially so young, Kai is one of two people alive who understand the power within Custodes well enough to heal them without messing with crucial magicks. He's quite often the voice of reason when the twins or Vi lose their tempers.

Tamara Nadoc, Kinkajou Chimaera, she/her: Noah’s "twin" sister, primarily a Water magic user. Her parents were traveling merchants and spent most of their time on sailing the seas, Tamara and Zeena grew up on these ships, preferring the unpredictability of the waves to the boring stillness of stone and dirt. After her parents' death she never felt the same about the ocean. Bold, boisterous and adventurous, Tamara can never get enough of exploring.

Zeena Nadoc, Candentis Moth Chimaera, they/them: anxious yet feisty and Tamara and Noah’s younger sister. Specialises in various Air magicks. They and Tamara have had their magical capabilities greatly hampered by being on Earth for such a long time during their formative years. While its possible for them both to regain a decent amount of it back, its unlikely for them to ever get it back fully, Zeena has a slightly better chance than Tamara. They prefer to stay out of conflicts and help from the sidelines, becoming a very quick learner from Kai about healing magicks.

Noah Fletcher, Human, he/him: the adoptive brother of the Nadocs. When the two got displaced from their home years ago, his family took them in and raised them alongside him. He's much more in tune with magic due to this. He adores learning everything he can about Utzu and its people, while he struggles to understand most of the languages on the mainlands, he speaks numerous of the sailor dialects decently well.

Custodes and Lux Aeterna

Custodes are technically mutated Sprites. When the first bout of Aeterna appeared Sprites were the best equipped to turn their magic back at them.

After decades of using this new magic and adapting it for safer and easier use, among Sprites and Chimaera, they noticed that children of the Custodes were being born different. Different magical capabilities, learning faster and stronger, finding the adapted Aeterna magic easier and more natural.

Custodes became a widespread name for anyone possessing these mutations as well as anyone within the actual Custos Order.

Lux Aeterna, also later known as Lumateruz, are a corrupted version of Umbroki. There are a few things that happen when an Utzan burns out, becoming an Umbroki is one of them. They're a sort of spirit, ones that cant move onto death and are stuck as a mere shadow of who they once were.

It was never very common until someone, a Human/Chimaera hybrid, started messing around with spirit magic and warped an Umbroki so far past any recognition that its black form melted away and revealed a brilliant white Lux Aeterna. A magic leech that does nothing except steal and overconsume everything it touches.

after years of terrorising humans and Utzan alike, this mysterious hybrid was named The Edud, no one knows who it was before he allowed his mind and body to become so warped by it's own magic that runes and spells are the only thing keeping it together.

Centuries of fighting between the Edud and Custodes meant they had to close themselves off from Earth and the humans earlier than they ever could've expected. Utzu was created as a last ditch effort to contain the Edud. One sacrifice to make a new world for the Utzan and trap the Edud and its puppets in the rift between, a seemingly endless white void.

The plan worked. For a while. Long enough for everyone to get complacent and confident. Long enough for Custodes to spread across the new world. Long enough for the general populace to think Lux Aeterna were a myth, a story meant to scare children. There were sightings every now and then but Custodes always banished them swiftly enough that news never spread much farther than the nearest town.

Umbroki in their rightful form were still rare, but had shifted to being made up almost entirely of former Custodes. They often took roles as caretakers or teachers, the main library of Atia was manned entirely by Umbroki for many years.

All it took for it to come crashing down was one watchman who brushed off the blinding flash of light on the horizon as a burst of aurora, something that often happened during the winters. It was the Edud leading his army to take out all the Custodes.

During the initial onslaught on Atia, a few Umbroki, partially corrupted now, slipped away to warn other sects of the attack and summon back-up. No matter how many Custodes joined the fight, they all fell to the Lux Aeterna. they had no hope left until the Elders started a spell, one that Utzu had left for a case of dire emergency. They lured the Edud and its army to the furthest point from any life.

The aftermath of the spell consumed every single being within miles. The Lux Aeterna, the Elders, all the survivors who'd come to lend their magic. All but two Umbroki and a child had been sucked into the void between Utzu and Earth, the last ditch effort to protect both worlds. The veil between void and life and been sealed tight, leaving an enormous crater of nothing instead of the island that once stood. Instead of inky blackness rushing to fill the gap, searing white light pooled in the bottom. Miles of rock before a thin blanket of heat that opens into the void, a fall that takes forever and no time at all before crashing through the opposite side and landing on Earth.

the one survivor of the massacre was none other than Violet Kaymarin. Never knowing how important xe'd become. Xyr father, one of the last Umbroki, tapped into a long forgotten reserve of time magic and opened a gateway to the future. Not knowing fully when he was sending xem, he hoped it was peaceful. Once he felt his child was safe, he went off to guard the new crack in the world. Elvira, the second Umbroki stayed on the ruined Atia and tried to put her library to rights again, in hope that it would help Violet when they next met.

The last image is xyr canonical eye colour but I can't put it on the model because it was a glitch

The crystals are usually under the clothes when xe're trying to hide them

More things about xyr appearance:

xe're 7ft tall and still growing. Custodes, especially Cerfel, can get quite large

The white patches are magic damage from Lumateruz. Its surface level mostly so it doesn't affect much. However when xe over use xyr magic a bit too much then the white bits can get a little bit intangible or see-through

Xe usually have multicoloured ribbons tied on xe antlers but there's no option for that in heroforge so I'll do that another time on paper

The circlet is sign of being a trainee Aeterna Hunter. Even though xe're far more experienced than a trainee now xe still wear it as there's no one to officially give xem the final rank.

with a bit of shape-shifting magic, xe can easily shift xyr feet to a more tigerish set of paws, instead of the hooves
