Virginia's improbable run to the College World Series culminated Wednesday night with a national championship.
The Cavaliers beat Vanderbilt 4-2 to win their first NCAA baseball title in school history, avenging last season's loss to the Commodores in the best-of-three final series at TD Ameritrade Park.
Brandon Waddell earned the win for U.Va., punctuating his historic career, while James River product Nathan Kirby got the save, striking out five of the seven batters he faced.
