Her hands closed around the skin of the young man’s hand, catching the already blistering skin. A soft cold spread between her fingertips and across the heated flesh. Carefully controlled, carefully guided. “You need to be more careful.” She reprimanded quietly as she gazed at her brother’s classmate. Her grey eyes were firm as she held him steady, not allowing him to even try to pull away. She was stronger than she looked after all. “Just because your own explosions don’t hurt you doesn’t mean heat from something else won’t. Didn’t you already know that?”
The tone she used with him was the exact same tone she took with her students when they had done something foolish while she wasn’t looking. Firm, chastising, but with the underlying concern that showed she wasn’t truly angry. And she didn’t have a reason to be angry with Bakugo at the moment besides his tendency to act without thinking. He had saved one of her middle schoolers after all, grabbing the superheated metal that had been swinging towards the girl when the cars crashed only a few meters away from the field trip group.
They had been lucky he had been there, but it was easier to focus on him rather than the racing of her own heart.
