When I was young, the V-chip on our TV was activated for at least a few years, but it came with “corrective” captions---I’m not sure if other TVs with the V-chip did this or it it was just because we liked having the captions on. One of my favorite movies to watch was Cats & Dogs, but I always hated the credits because over half of the song would be silent, like this:
