Time for another installment of My Sucky Art, this time focused on the stuff I’ve drawn for the Grand Theft Auto series that I would commission an artist to draw for me if I knew anyone who would do that. Instead, you’re stuck with this.

-The first drawing takes place in an AU where no one dies and everyone is happy and Niko & Kate stay together long enough for Funland to re-open so they can go there on a date.

-Kate is wearing Niko’s jacket.

-I have never played GTA Vice City (well, okay, I’ve never played a single GTA game but like, I have no experience with Vice City whatsoever- never watched a playthrough or any of the missions) so I didn’t know when I drew this that the V-Rock station is a location in the game. I have no idea if it looks like this on the inside, but it was the most tempting setting for me to draw Lazlow in, given the entertaining 80′s fashion.

-I also don’t really know what radio stations look(ed) like on the inside, so I made a wild guess based on my experience with recording studios, assuming they have some of the same equipment...

-While I haven’t seen anything from Vice City, I have listened to all of Lazlow’s radio programs. Lazlow’s line in the speech bubble is from his V-Rock hosting gig: “Don’t forget, Love Fist are in town right now... or is it Love Fist IS in town? Whatever, I flunked school ‘cause I’m hardcore.”

-I wish I could say I knew where this crossover idea came from, but I really don’t. I just watched a couple Stefon sketches from SNL, remembered how there’s a GTA DLC that revolves around the nightclub business in an NYC analogue, and it just seemed like a natural fit. 

-I doubt Maisonette 9 would be Stefon’s club of choice but it gave me an opportunity to include more GTA characters than I would have if, say, the club was Hercules (only Bernie goes there as far as I know) or Bahama Mama’s (I don’t think any major characters go there). 

-Brucie: “What d’ya say to hitting the dance floor with me?” Stefon: “Um, I’m married, sorry.” Brucie, futilely backtracking: “Aw, c’mon, I’m not- I didn’t mean it like THAT-”

-Gay Tony way in the background, addressing Seth Meyers: “So which one’s yours again?”

-Half of the background characters are canonical and the other half are random people who I hated every second of drawing because fuck realistic anatomy, man.
