Lisbeth had been very reluctantly hired by MI6. Her expertise meant she was quickly promoted to R. She frightened the agents by her lack of fear and ever present silent threat of harm.

Lisbeth acted as the gatekeeper to Q, first port of call before they reached him. MI6 in general feared going down to Q Branch and facing her ire.

When they first told him he was getting an R, Cris wasn’t thrilled.  He liked things the way they were and didn’t see the need to shake things up.  He pictured some stuffy man in a labcoat who would want to take over the moment he got a chance. 

However, the new R couldn’t have been the farthest thing from his imagined assistant.  “Hey, R?” he called from his office.  “Tanner is on his way down.  Any chance you could keep him away from the tests we have going in bunker three?  I don’t want them to know about it until we’re already done.”

Retirement || James and Cris

When word finally reached Q-Branch, Cris froze, letting the words was over him. “James Bond is retiring.” What would his life be like without 007 there? With an apology to R, he hurried to the double-oh offices. “Is the rumour true?” he blurted out. “Are you really leaving?”

"When are you and James gonna get married?"

“James and I are already married.  It was a small ceremony at work with just three people attending, including our boss who officiated. James was leaving on a mission and there was a good chance he wouldn’t return so we did not wish to waste the opportunity.”

Q arched a brow, letting James rant and threaten to his heart’s content.  It had been a rough mission and he knew James just needed to let it out.  There would be complaints tomorrow  from minions about the way Bond spoke to the quartermaster but Cris thought nothing of it.  James wouldn’t do anything to him, he knew.

When James slowed down, Q sighed and asked, “Are you quite finished?  We have dinner reservations and if you keep carrying on like that, I may as well cancel them.”

James isn't stable enough to raise a family what if he gets triggered and hurts your children? You won't be able to stop him

What makes you think I won’t be able to stop him?  I have better marksmanship records than any of the double-ohs and weapons hidden in my house that James doesn’t know about.  I am more than capable of defending myself and my family if need be.  Do not let my appearance fool you.  I may be a boffin but I am also an MI6 agent.  

Which is beside the point.  James is a lot more stable than you would think and is getting better every day.

Any Thread with James Bond - How do you know youre not jsut another notch on hsi bed?

I don’t know.  Romorrow he could walk away and I would never see him again.  But I have faith that deep down, James wants the same things I do: stability, a person who loves you no matter what, someone to grow old with.  Until he proves me wrong, I will be by his side.

Cris should have known better.  Drinking at the MI6 Christmas party always ended badly.  Because in a room full of spies, any secret you had actually managed to hold onto tended to come out in a very public fashion the moment alcohol was involved.  Still, after Moneypenny had challenged him to a shot contest (one he lost badly), Cris wasn’t thinking clearly enough to remember why he shouldn’t have done that.

Seeing James, Cris practically fell into his arms.  “You’re so damn beautiful,” he slurred, eyes heavy with alcohol-induced exhaustion.  “Too bad you don’t like men.  If you did, I would totally blow you down in my lab right now.”  He was too far gone to hear the snickers and gasps at his rather loud confession.

Cris had never been one to be considered graceful.  It just wasn’t something anyone would ever associate with him. So it shouldn’t have been a shock when he managed to fall off the ladder while trying to fix the smoke detector at Cheryl’s house.  It also shouldn’t have been much of a surprise when he fell on her.  And yet, it was.  

“I’m sorry,” he gasped, scrambling up.  “I really should be more careful.”
