“I took a lot of it with me. The Muggle Studies professor loved me. We spent hours looking at phones and computers and any number of other gadgets. He’d never seen anything like them before.” It didn’t work very well when surrounded by that much magical energy but Cris managed to get enough to work that he could at least explain the mechanics behind it.

Sherlock played as they danced, James was grinning as he ran his hands over Cris’ body.
“James, we have an audience,” Cris hissed in his ear, though there was no heat behind the words. He loved when they moved like this, loved James’s hands on him. There was a reason they rarely danced when other people were around. It often led to other activities.

“Don’t get me wrong. I loved working for Six. But this was always my dream and while it got derailed for a few years, now I have it and I couldn’t be happier.”
Cris laughed. “You could still wear the suit if you wanted. No rule saying you have to dress casual if that makes you uncomfortable.”

James woke the next morning kissing the top of Cris’ head smiling. “Good morning”
“Good morning,” Cris smiled, not making any effort to move away. “Sleep well, Bond?”

She smiled. “You do not need to send an agent I’ve done this before I could funnel the money into another account that I’ve set up. I can even make it look like they have done it”
M wouldn’t let Cris do it himself. He’d suggested it already. But he didn’t say anything about not letting anyone else do it. He grinned, “Please, go for it. If we can keep one agent out of harm’s way, if only for a few hours, it’s worth it.”

He very nearly facepalmed but in the end, knew that was what he was going to write. Because it made the most sense, aside from the fact that James and the other Double-Ohs were mostly just having fun. “That will probably work. Not like M isn’t expecting this anyway.”

Sherlock nodded slowly again. “What have you been doing in your work lately? Maybe I can help”
“I have a few different projects going,” Cris said, always happy to talk about his work with someone who understood what he was saying and had the security clearance to hear about it. “James is really interested in getting an exploding pen, so I’m making him one for Christmas. I’ll probably have to write a report when he blows up half of Dubai with it six weeks later.”

James smiled at him. “I would love to cook for more than just Cris he eats like a fussy bird. I make my own Thai food if you’re interested” Sherlock looked at Cris, “I would love to come for dinner”
“I’m not that bad!” Cris protested half-heartedly. It was probably true, even if he didn’t want to admit. “James’s Thai food is pretty good. I wouldn’t turn it down if I were you.” He smiled when his brother accepted the offer, glad to have him coming over. They didn’t see enough of each other most days.

“Hogwarts?” Cris smiled, thinking of his former school. “It’s a castle up in Scotland. You take a train to get there and are sorted into one of four houses. The staircases move on their own and the people in pictures can walk around and talk. It’s magical, if I’m being completely cliche.”

Sherlock started playing as James stepped forward, he knew all the steps, knew how Cris would move.
It was easy enough to fall into the movements, the steps coming as naturally as breathing at this point. Aside from hacking, dancing was one of the things Cris felt the most comfortable with in the world.

“I’m sure.” She slipped into the car and pulled the door shut. “Good to see you again, Cris,” she murmured, giving her friend a small kiss on the cheek. “It’s weird to sit on this side of a car and not have a steering wheel in front of me!” @quartermastersearlgrey
“Good to see you as well,” Cris said with a smile, waiting for Cheryl to be buckled in before taking off away from the airport. “I’m sure you will get used to it. I had to go to Switzerland a few years back and driving on the right was very strange.”

James laughed. “Yes well Alec burnt my kitchen down I have faith in you” he leaned back watching Cris. “It’s odd seeing you like this not buttoned up and strict”
“Apparently I had more in common with Alec than I though,” Cris mused, corners of his lips turning up slightly.
He shrugged. “I dressed for the job. I didn’t want to lose it while I still needed it. Now that I’m my own boss, I dress how I want. So this is more me than you ever saw at Six.”

James stayed awake for a while simply watching him sleep smiling he kissed his hair as he too began to drift away.
Most people would have trouble sleeping next to someone who’d been paid to kill for a living. Cris, by contrast, slept better than he had in years. Where would he be safer than in James’ arms?

“I have the files on the terrorist cell you asked for” she said quietly, bringing them up on a screen for him to look at.
“Thank you.” Cris looked over the numbers. “Their funneling all their money through this account here in Kazakhstan. If we send an agent in there, we might be able to intercept their funding. With money, they can’t operate properly. What do you think?”

“Five may need to replace their agents I think James and Alec have put most of them into intensive care”
“So, if Her Majesty asks why one branch of her secret service severely damaged another, what do we tell her? That it was a friendly game?” Because Cris had been watching. That was anything but friendly, no matter how much he personally had enjoyed it.

“I will try not to get in the way of you trying to work” he sighed and slowly headed out of the flat waiting for Cris.
“Don’t worry about that, ‘Lock. You know me. I can work anywhere as long as I have a computer and at least one functional hand.” Cris hated seeing Sherlock this broken. Maybe some time away from 221B would be good for him.
