New York City, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Star Wars references aside, John was eager to finish his work here and get off to find a few good drinks. Bloody city was loud, and he wasn’t meaning the mundane hustle and bustle. Magic and power flowed through every crack in the cement, dripping from windows like grime and rain water. There are older cities that were even louder, like London for example, and Rome, and Alexandria, but none were as obnoxious about it as New York.
As the sun set over the city John made his way to one of the grimier pubs, one with a strange marking carved on it’s paint chipped door. Strange to the mundane maybe, but to John it told him exactly what he needed to. This was where he needed to be. The scrying map had led him to New York and so here he was. The best place to find out what exactly had gone wrong in a city like this wasn’t in the newspaper, it was in a pub full of homo magi and whatever creature had decided to crawl out of it’s dung hole this night. Magical happenstances never went unnoticed.
He listened to the gossip as he stomached the swill they tried to pass as beer and found special interest in the rumors of a knight slaying criminals, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. A curse? A jinx? An angry vengeful spirit? Anything was possible. It was certainly a start. He finished his drink and left the pub looking for trouble. Which told you just how desperate he was to get out of New York, normally he just waited for the trouble to find him.
