🌵 The sheriff had been called to this place on account of some locals claiming to have seen a monster. He dismounts Bullseye and shakes his head. How could there possibly be a monster? “It’s probably just a small bear or maybe a wolf that’s gotten too close to town.” Woody chuckles to himself lightly. Though for some reason the description he was given by the startled folk plays itself over and over again in his mind. ‘Hairy creature’, ‘sharp teeth’, ‘bug eyes’, ‘I thought it was going to eat me!’ With a gulp, he pushes forward, flashlight in hand.
Woody stops just outside an abandoned house on the outskirts of town. This is the last place the creature was seen. Gingerly, he heads up the path and through the broken door. “Hello?” He calls, trembling a little at the knees. Yet, he continues to tip toe through the eerie, cob-web filled corridor and to the kitchen to investigate. Why the kitchen? Well, the door has been left wide open. “Anybody home?” He whispers, peering into the room.
Something-around the size of a young child shifts across the room, hidden in the darkness.
This startles Woody at first. But- maybe it’s a lost kid. His big heart aches at this and stops him from turning around and bucking it.
“Um...hey there, friend.” He speaks gently as to not scare the other. His flashlight searches but fails to find what it is he just saw. “It’s okay... I’m not going to hurt you. I just- ...want to help.”
“Did I scare you? I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. I’m Sheriff Woody, I’m a friend, really. Come on out, it’s okay.” 🌵
