BASICS:

Name: Malachai “Kai” Parker. Face Claim: Chris Wood. Age: 22. Year: Senior / 4th year of undergrad. Major: Anthropology.

BIOGRAPHY:

Growing up, Kai was that child that would do just about any dare without much of a second thought to it. Sometimes he blurs the lines of morality that most people uphold. He has a twin sister, Josette, who may be the only member of the large Parker family that ever truly made an effort to connect with him. From the beginning his father treated him poorly and when he noticed that Kai was starting to become more disconnected, his treatment towards the boy only became worse. Every sibling born more or less felt like they were attempting to cover up one mistake of a child. In high school, he was nothing short of destructive. The Parker’s lost their mother during these years & he only became worse since then, avoiding their home at any opportunity that presented itself.

Therefore, when he was given the chance to depart the dreary setting in Portland, Oregon than he grew up in -- Kai jumped at it. Picking a college on the opposite coast of his home he couldn’t have picked a better spot for himself. Due to his disconnect to humanity he’s attempted to learn more about human behavior by studying in a major centered around doing just that. Now in his fourth year of college, he’s not so sure he’s learned too much on this front.

Has six younger siblings – seven if his twin is included. Despite their differences he’ll always hold a soft spot for her.

His father is not physically, but verbally abusive – it’s because of this that Kai has developed a dullness in his his sense of emotions.

Kai has alexithymia: he can NOT describe his own emotions or what he may be feeling, there’s a certain lack of discerning between his feelings as well. It also creates a lack of empathy for the feelings of others. He does have emotions, but he doesn’t have the ability to acknowledge them the way that most stable people do.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Ruby Thibodeaux: @killforfries - “Infinitely complicated.” The two have definitely bonded by several definitions of the term. Neither seems to be looking for a deeper relationship so they’ve found their own balance that works in this. There’s a certain grown affection for the woman than he’ll only be able to ignore for so long before coming to terms with the idea.

         bellatrix black. twenty-three. graduate student. 

THE BLACK FAMILY has been in florida for as long as anyone can remember, they’ve been involved in the community from local government to the school board. generations have graduated from basura state university, top of their class and gone on to greater things. and bellatrix is no exception to the standard. 

after graduating high school with top honors, the eldest black took a year to travel europe before starting fresh at bu. there was no question as to what the path was for her: a demanding academic schedule, a bachelor’s degree and a legacy seat among the women of  eta phi sigma. it doesn’t stop there, though. the blacks demand greatness; she’s smart, prodigiously skilled. and no one will let that go to waste. but her father doesn’t see an heir to the business in his oldest daughter, even though he’s paying for that shiny master’s degree. he sees her as an opportunity. celebration of her undergraduate degree was cut short was her parents announced her engagement to her father’s business partner’s oldest son, rodolphus lestrange.

her engagement to rodolphus lestrange is arranged and hardly her decision. she views it as archaic and prefers not to discuss it, even though she wears the obnoxiously large engagement ring. don’t be surprised when she plays tonsil hockey with a drunk frat boy.

news of the engagement went public just before the start of the semester, rumor is the wedding will happen after bella’s graduation.

NAME Solaareese “REESE” ‘Alani AGE Twenty-Two (22) OCCUPATION Sorority House Hasher (for Eta Phi Singma) EDUCATION High School (graduated)

BIOGRAPHY

          Born to an artist mother and an agriculturalist father in the beautiful state of Hawaii, Reese ‘Alani was made for hot weather. Which meant that when his travelling family opted to make some roots, while Reese went to school, in the Sunshine State, Reese was excited. Even though he enjoyed the nomadic lifestyle of he’d grown accustomed to, the idea of having a hometown was appealing to him. It would be a new experience and what better place than Miami. So at thirteen, he started eighth grade and they’ve been there ever since.

          While he enjoyed the social aspect of high school, he could never quite find it in himself to dedicate any real time to his studies. The only reason he passed was because he played for the basketball and football teams, and in order to keep playing he had to at least maintain a ‘C’ average. With the help of tutors and his parents he was able to achieve that, but his real passion was cooking. Always a fixture in Home Ec. classes and even was a part of an after school cooking club.

          Once he graduated high school, he immediately got a job in a kitchen and began to really learn how to cook in a professional setting, and he bounced from restaurant to restaurant for a few years, working as both kitchen and wait staff. When he turned twenty-one he’d attended a bar-tending school or sorts and learned how to make a mean chocolate martini. For a few months he’d worked at a bar but it ended up closing and then six months ago, there had been a craigslist ad for a sorority house hasher. 

          Now he’s been working at the HOE house for a few months and lives in the apartment provided over their garage. Honestly, it has been such a wonderful experience for him. Being around people, getting to know them and keeping them fed and caffeinated. Usually he wouldn’t work at a place too long, but the pay is enough for him to save since he doesn’t have to pay for his apartment and after a couple more years he might even have enough saved to go to culinary school.

BIOGRAPHY

         Second born of four, child of two military parents, Frank was use to chaos. There was never enough milk in the house, a serious lack of privacy and no real roots. That was until she was twelve and her parents retired from the military and opted to stay in Florida, granted they moved a bit further own from Jacksonville, to Miami, but for the first time, Frank felt like it was okay to get comfortable. Even the privacy issue would be solved soon, with her sister college bound, by the eighth grade, Frank finally gained the privacy her introverted nature had always craved. As for the milk, there was still never enough, but two for three ain’t bad.

         As soon as she started high school, she had been determined to pave a way to her future. Luckily, her parents had forced her to a career fair and as soon as she saw the armed forced booth, she knew. Without doubt she knew that the military was were she belonged, and ever since then she’s made high school all about better herself for her future military career. Joining quite a few sports teams, and training in mixed martial arts as well as taking parent appointed dance classes with her siblings, all of which aided in her stamina, agility and mobility. Keeping up her grades was a must as well, and joining the JROTC in her junior year. Everything was planned out and she stayed on track for it all.

         Of course, there was always something, and for Frank it wasn’t something that could be resolved, or stood up to, or changed. It was just something that was, is and always would be. Coming to grips with her sexuality had been far more exhausting for her than anything else she had filled her time with, because there was no escape from herself. However she didn’t want to live in secret once she went off to college she she came out to her family the summer before her first semester. Thankfully her family had been incredibly supportive and honestly, it had been the best possible scenario.

          Now she was in her second year of college and at first she had been homesick but after she started ROTC she was reminded of the future she was working toward and with that to focus on she was able to overcome her homesickness. Since then she’d attended a few parties, made a few friends and was starting to understand why people said that college was the best years of your life.

katerina has always had an adventurous spirit -- her parents ( mostly her father ) wonder where they’d gone wrong because it was not the petrova way ( even if she did have that ‘petrova fire’ they were so famous for ), but she rebelled against everything they wanted for her & infuriated her father till no end, but her actions were not malicious -- katerina was a sweet girl & she loved her family more & it killed her that she disappointed her family, but the wanderlust and desire for adventure and a need to experience life had taken hold young & she had never been able to satisfy that.

katerina was sent off to boarding school when she was supposed to start high school; taken away from her friends by her parents in hopes that the strict nature of the school they’d chosen would rid of her the ‘fire’ that burned so brightly, but all they’d managed to do was add gasoline. upon her graduation she made it clear, as much as it hurt, that she was leaving. she’d been accepted, without their help, at a state school in america and she planned to go there without their help or well wishes & she packed her bags and left. her father, before she even made it out the door, made it clear that if she left, she would not be allowed back, & despite how much it hurt, she didn’t look back.

NAME Wolfgang Bogdanow AGE Twenty (20) YEAR Junior (first semester) MAJOR Mechanical Engineering

BIOGRAPHY

         Born in Berlin, Germany to a Russian woman who died not long after she gave birth to him and a abusive drunk of a man who came from a family of criminals, Wolfgang never knew the benefit of a healthy environment. Often times, his father took his frustration and anger out on him, verbally and physically, causing him to appear as though he participated in a fight club every day of his life. Never without bruises or a split lip and for whatever reason, if a teacher did notice, he’d lie. Even though his father never asked him to.

         Despite his home life, Wolfie found much happiness int he form of a best friend. Felix was a lanky kid who’d no doubt, grow into a tall and lanky man, but he was an optimist. Always seizing opportunities, and he taught Wolfgang how important friendship was. It meant you weren’t along, and for a kid like him that was the most important lesson he ever learned.

         Throughout his schooling, Wolfgang did quite well in his academics, and his extracurricular was limited to the lessons his father would teach him after school. Like how to crack a safe, or the best way to break into a house even if people are home. Or his uncle teaching him how to scam and con. Essentially the tricks of his family’s business. Felix even tagged along most of the time but Wolfgang needed a way out and the study abroad program was his way.

          Now he was living in Florida where the humid weather might be the most shocking change he had to adjust to. So far though, he’s felt a bit of a weight lift off of his shoulders, now that he doesn’t have to deal with his family and he knows that Felix is also staying away from them. Hopefully his stay in America will show that it really is the land of the free.

BIOGRAPHY

         To say that Magnus’ father was shady would quite possibly be the biggest understatement of the century, but damn if he wasn’t good at making a company a seemingly infinite amount of money. Truly, Asmodeus could sell water to Poseidon and find a legitimate and non refutable way to charge Zeus for electricity. While he’d found great success in China, he had bigger dreams, to infiltrate the American market and so he traveled to America, married a second generation Chinese woman, impregnated her and then tempted her with infidelity so he could divorce her and not have to pay her a damn thing.

         For some reason, that to this day Magnus can’t figure out, his father chose to demand full custody of him. While his father wasn’t the warmest of people, he was brilliant and good at manipulating the system to his advantage, and spending the first sixteen years of his life, watching his father work instilled the idea of, nothing for free and all taught him to keep his emotions in check at all times. Needless to say, Magnus in high school had a lot of snark and caused him to posses a distrust in others.

          As he entered his junior year of high school he’d met Camille, a girl who had intrigued him enough to push Magnus to try his hand at romance and relationships. For their remaining high school years they had been together and Magnus was in love, enough to make long distance work as they went off to separate colleges. Unfortunately, she broke his heart when she cheated and he’d reverted back to his distrustful self and sass and snark coated defense. After four years he graduated from the Wharton School at UPenn in Economics and immediately started his masters in Business at Basura.

          Now, he’s in his third year of the master’s program he’s gained access to his trust fund and has invested a great deal in stocks, which has quite literally been paying off very handsomely. Currently he works for his father which isn’t where he wants to remain by any means. Quite frankly he doesn’t want to be heir to his father’s throne, he wants his own crown, one that ultimately rivals that of his father’s.

Name: Alexander Alec Lightwood. face claim: Matthew Daddario. age: 20 ( soon to be 21 ). year: Junior / 3rd year of undergrad. major: Politcal science with the intent to become a law student.

BIOGRAPHY:

Alec is the oldest of his siblings, extremely protective of those he cares about, & tends to be very soft-spoken. It’s not that he’s timid, but he keeps to himself with walls built around him as a natural defense that leads him to be a mysterious individual. Entering high school he started to recognize something within himself that he’s still coming to terms with – his sexuality. He’s learned that his feelings aren’t like those of majority of males & he finds that men arouse something in him that women simply don’t. While struggling through high school with this, he slowly became more aware that it wouldn’t ever change him on a person based on who he may fall in love with -- despite the fact that he’d had yet to experience love in that way. His sister, Isabelle, was the first person he came out to. When it came to his parents, however, he was sure they would be the last on the planet to find out.

When he graduates college, Alec takes a year off with the uncertainty of what he wants to do with his future. In his parents’ impatience with this, they relentlessly push him towards the path of a lawyer. He wants to resist it at first, but he does secretly enjoy the inner workings of the political justice system. By the start of the next school year, he’s enrolled in Basura University in sunny Florida. Quite the change from living in New York, but also freeing -- he misses his sister until she joins him there, but doesn’t miss the stress of being around his parents all the time. Now about to start his third year on the path to becoming a law student, he’s met someone that has started to open him up since the moment they met over the summer.

OTHER INFO: 

Has two younger siblings: Isabelle & Max. They hold great importance to him & he’s closer with his sister than just about anyone else. 

Openly gay at this point in his life -- the only people he hasn’t come out to are his parents. He also hasn’t told his younger brother, either -- not that he expects the pre-teen to understand it so well. Alec is still not as comfortable as he’d like to be in his own skin, but is working on it.

Feels a lot of pressure from his parents to succeed.

He’ll assure her that she’ll have to deal with that for the rest of her life, but he likes to think she’s accepted this by now. While he knows of her love of partying, he’s worried for her & wants no one for her than a person that would treat her right.

Magnus Bane ( @magnvss  ) : Current object of affection & boyfriend. They met by chance at a party over the time when summer sessions were still taking place. Intrigue drew Alec out of his shell & wanting to know more about the man. The more time they spent together, the more Alec could feel himself opening up -- falling for Magnus. They’ve just started a relationship, but already he feels better with him than anyone has ever been able to make him feel.
