Dark eyebrows furrowed together as he quickly rounded the seemingly deserted house - the feeling of this being far too easy making the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. But already being this close Kanda realized he could hardly just turn around despite the impending danger. If this was some extremely lucky break to have found the noah’s base while they were gone he would be foolish to sit around and wait for them to come back. The worst that could happen was that he had to fight far more than he desired.
Finding a window partially cracked open on the second floor, Kanda quickly scaled the side of the building - swinging himself soundlessly into the room. It was disheveled, but empty. With his fingers curling around the hilt of his sword, he continued his silent journey through the house.
It was messy inside, filled with tipped over furniture and clothing scattered around. That simply served to confuse Kanda more, but maybe that was just because he’d never seen where Noah actually lived before. He considered the fact that this could have been some innocent human’s house before as well.
Since he was already at the top Kanda decided to start his search from there, going room by room. In one of them he caught an akuma off guard, its level low enough he was able to finish it with a simple slice from Mugen. Convinced that there was something here that was being protected gave him hope, he had been searching for where the noah were keeping the two bookmen without any luck so far. Every lead had been a dead end or just another house filled with bullet holes from akuma.
After the second floor was clear, Kanda skipped the main floor after finding the one to the basement was locked. Kicking down the door with little care for the sound he made, Kanda was not surprised to find an akuma screaming up the stairs at him firing bullets all the while only to be met with his sword. Slamming one boot-clad foot into the creatures face a few moments later he slid down the remaining stairs by using the half-conscious carcass.
The basement looked far less like a basement and more like a dungeon once he got a good look at it, and so Kanda did the one thing he could think of in order to see if there was any point in searching the whole area. He yelled, his voice loud and firm.
