Astarion was curious about the vampires of this world and perhaps he might find out something about them firsthand while he provided a distraction.
This one wasn't like the ones of Toussaint. She lived at the heart of a wood, portraying herself as a witch and herbalist of an old religion. After dark, she would perform rituals before and after her kills, beginning with a dance under the moon.
It was the dance he arrived for, piquing her curiosity in turn. They sensed each other not as human and not as the vampires they knew, smiling their seductions, dancing verbally and literally together, each cryptic with how little they divulged.
It was almost a shame she was going to have to die.
"Don't worry, darling. I'm in a sharing mood."
His velvet words reached her ears, but they were for another.
