🍜 HOW TO MAKE A SALAD THAT DOESN'T SUCK 🍜 First let's address why salads cam suck. They can be either A) totally bland and unsatisfying, or B) filled with so many fatty toppings that you end up eating almost a days worth of calories in one meal. But they don't have to be. Follow these steps to up your salad game and make a delicious meal that is still fat loss friendly. Keep in mind that the options are endless, so get creative. 1) Start with whatever lettuce you like. Romaine, butter, mixed greens, arugula etc... Or mix together a few different options. You can also add herbs like cilantro or chives to up the flavour. 2) Adding a variety of colourful veggies, or even some fruit, is a great way to increase the total volume of your salad for very few calories. I love using crunch ones like raw cabbage, carrots, cucumbers or bell peppers to add some extra texture. And one of my favourite tips is to add roasted veggies to the mix. 3) The most important component for turning a salad into a complete meal is including a good amount of protein. If you stick to just veggies, chances are you will still feel hungry after eating. Try getting 100-150 grams of chicken, steak, turkey, tuna, salmon, eggs or tofu. Just make sure it's not fried. 4) using a little bit of fat is a great for adding texture and flavour, as well as keeping you full for longer. Just be careful not to go overboard, as this is where calories can get out of control. Avocado, nuts, a sprinkling of cheese or a little bacon are all fine. I suggest sticking with one source if you're going to add dressing and two if you're going without. 5) After adding everything above, you may find that you don't need dressing, as all the additions add a lot of great textures and flavours. But if you do opt for it, get it on the side rather than drenching it completely, as that will save tons of calories. Bonus tip is to mix temperatures. The contrast of warm meat/tofu or vegetables with with cold, crispy lettuce will make it more satisfying. #ReachYourPeak #AspireActAchieveAdvance #VeeFitness #V12Challenge
