“Do you by any chance have formal clothes in your hunter paraphernalia?” Steve questioned, seemingly out of the blue as they were curled up on the bed watching the original version of Sunset Boulevard. The vintage setting and music reminded him of their talk from a few nights before, when he had promised to teach Bucky how to dance old style – no that he knew much about it, since he hadn’t practiced too often as a mortal.

“Or you could borrow one of my suits…” He added thoughtfully, tilting his head to look at the mortal man tucked against his side. “There’s a room that should be good for dancing if we move the furniture around.”

12. picture perfect

“Hey, sweetie,” Vicky called out, greeting her boyfriend with a kiss when he entered the car. She was a little jittery, first because it wasn’t usual for her to be the one picking him up with when they went out, but mostly for the reason they were meeting up in the first place.

They had been together for roughly two months since that first date and considering that she had started mentioning Will to her mother and sister in the early weeks of their relationship it was no wonder that the family wanted to meet him soon. It was either that or risk their suspicions, as Kate put it, about Will’s intentions – which was total bullshit but Vicky could never deny them for too long.

She did feel some sympathy for the poor man, though, and made sure to squeeze his arm reassuringly before starting up the car. “Ready?”

Can we all agree that if you want threads with substance you have to give something first? I am getting so tired of bland starters or simple replies that have nothing to go on or build on. And then the thread dies and I get blamed for dropping it.

o6. family recipe

It wasn’t that Steve feared waking up on a random evening and finding out that Bucky had left without notice or goodbyes. He told himself that he only wanted to seek out the company of someone he liked spending time with, but there was surely a hint of anxiety weighing in his chest during the short span of leaving the safety of his underground room and walking around the mansion until he found the mortal man.

The two hunters had returned a couple days before, fresh from fighting a poltergeist that hadn’t gone easy on Bucky. How fragile that life was, in spite of all of his strength and vitality. Steve tried not to worry too much, yet whenever he caught sight of Bucky wincing in pain he was reminded of the dreadful things that could happen to the man that had made his dead heart quicken.

He knew well enough to stay quiet about those matters, careful not to imply that his boyfriend’s mortality was an obstacle. Whatever the outcome, he wanted to enjoy what they had in the present.

“Bucky? You in there?” The question was paired with gentle knocking on the door to the guest room that had already become Bucky’s in his mind.

11. something sweet

With the basket of freshly made cupcakes under her arm, Vicky rang the doorbell to Will’s house, smiling at the barking reply from Fitz. They had set up to meet that Saturday after the successful date – and night spent together – on Wednesday and she was making good on her promise to bring her… boyfriend some baked goods.

If the word gave her pause in her own mind it was because they had yet to say it out loud. She was fairly sure that they could describe themselves as such, two people officially dating and not simply going on dates anymore. She didn’t usually care about making bold statements early in a relationship, but it would be good to know and she could trust Will not to react like a 20-something commitment-phobic boy.

Whatever it was, she was glad to be there and wanted to enjoy Will’s company… even more so if they managed to get that sorted out over delicious cupcakes.

“Hey there,” she greeted with a wide smile when he opened the door, taking just one step forward before her hand reached his chest and she leaned up for a quick kiss. “Do you happen to be hungry?”
