Star Wars: The Old Republic.
This could not stand, I HAD TO FIX IT @sunsetofdoom
Fanfic of a fanfic. A fan turducken if you will. A fix it fic based on this: [X]
Vaakot watches it all unfold with a quiet dread that he keeps buried under a passive face. Technically they only just met albeit briefly. Per his report to the council, his stay on Voss had not been particularly memorable save for the beasts, ruins, and pleasant weather. However, one aspect he had kept from them, was the unusual digging partner he had found. She was a tall Zabrak, clever, witty, soft…
It was not as though it was forbidden for Jedi to entertain others. It would certainly have been hypocritical of Master Satele to declare chastity as a hard rule. However, Nan hadn’t just been a casual fling. He had felt something connecting them. It was rare and precious bond that helped him see all possible paths within the force.
It didn’t exactly help his case that she was a Sith.
Perhaps that’s why he felt the pull to go into an empty quadrant of space by himself. Perhaps that was why he felt her pain and anguish within the space station.
He sliced into the surveillance equipment easily and saw the terrible scene unfold. It was too late. By the time he had docked, Malavai had left leaving a broken body behind. His breath hitched as he fell to her knees beside her. He could fix it. Surely he could fix this.
He took a deep shuddering breath as he gripped as much Force as he could and siphoned it into her. He wasn’t a healer, not by a long shot but he knew how to revive someone in an emergency. The first burst slipped within her and she remained unmoving. Once more he reached and drained the space around them of Force energy before redirecting it. His form glowed as he performed the action over and over again, practically pushing the Force to flow through her. Sweat dotted his brow but he did not stop. He pulled from his own reserves and prayed their bond would help guide her back.
After an eternity he heard a rasping breath and a choking cough.
Relief flooded him and he pulled her into his arms in a gentle embrace. Her arm was distressingly loose but he was sure it could be fixed. There was an orbital station nearby with a medical staff.
“I’ve got you, Nan. It’s okay. I’ve got you,” he muttered over and over again.
“V-Vaakot… how…” she gasped as she shifted and felt a bolt of pain surge through her.
How indeed. Now was not the time to pour his heart out, but rather to get her to safety. He could sense movement just beyond the blast doors.
“That’s a secret,” he smiled weakly as he lay her down tenderly in the small bed within his shuttle. After a few moments there was a hiss and a heavy clank as the docking clamps released them and they floated free. He quickly sped off before lowering the shields to make the jump.
“Where… were are we going? Why… did you come back for me…?” Nan asked in a voice that Vaakot found to be distressingly weak.
He swallowed back tears and cleared his throat.
“That’s…a secret too. Lots of secrets today.”
Nan gave him a faint smile before responding, “Secrets? I love secrets.”
He gripped the controls tightly and nodded.
