A MESSAGE FROM MANAGEMENT—

Dear Staff,

As you may well know, I have decided to use my vacation time to recharge before our hectic holiday season. While I’m gone, I expect everyone to be on their best behavior and delivering service to the usual degree of excellence. 

I will be out of the country from December 5-19, and while I will have my cellular phone on me in the event of an emergency, I may be without service (or I may simply have turned it off, but that’s okay, because I have a plan). 

Should any issues arise, Nadia Benson (@nadiaruns), our Front Desk Manager, will be handling operations, and Ethan Dorsey (@ethan-dorsey), Head Janitor, will field any concerns regarding our facilities. Lila Sinclair (@lilacsinclair), manager of The Shooting Star Grille, will oversee all diner operations, as usual. Should Nadia or Ethan be unreachable, Emery Weston (@emeryweston) is our most senior employee, and I trust that she will step in to help.

In case of emergency, please notify the abovementioned staff members. They will have access to a list of emergency service numbers at the front desk, including contact information for Police, Fire and Ambulance, as well as emergency plumbing contractors. The list also includes the phone number for Nevada Public Health Services and Animal Control.

WE VALUE YOUR OPINION—

In a slight twist on the standard gossip/confessions blog common among roleplays, we will be taking your feedback — including in-character gossip, confessions from your muse(s), complaints about the motel/diner, and general comments — via famed Starlite Motel Manager Jimmy Cohen’s blog. 

Each submission to Jimmy’s ask will be published alongside his colorful commentary.

A few guidelines for this:

SUBMISSIONS CAN BE SENT LOGGED IN OR ANONYMOUSLY. The choice is yours! But please note that all messages will be published, so unless you want your dirty laundry to be hoisted up with your name attached, double-check that the Anonymous button is enabled! There are no stat counters, IP loggers or any other such technology on Jimmy’s blog, so go nuts. (Jimmy doesn’t understand what that last sentence means, but trusts us.)

DON’T GODMOD OR METAGAME. Gossip should be grounded in common knowledge. (For example: If Character X tells Character Y a secret in private, do not submit gossip about it. In this scenario, only Character X or Y are welcome to submit a confession about said secret.)

SUBMISSIONS MUST BE BASED ON IN-CHARACTER THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS. Given that this is a comment card-type set-up, this is strictly for characters; therefore, anything sent in must be based on your muse’s thoughts/opinions. We will not be accepting OOC submissions, including commentary on players.

MALICIOUS SUBMISSIONS WILL BE DELETED. This is intended to be a light-hearted and fun activity to complement the game. Don’t be a dick.

In addition to gossip/confessions, everyone is welcome to talk to Jimmy IC about anything from the weather to the shitty water pressure in your room to that raise you’ve been angling for.

Submissions will be tagged with #vacancycomment on Jimmy’s blog. (This will not be a tracked tag necessary to follow — just make sure you’re following him.)

A MESSAGE FROM MANAGEMENT—

Hello Guest,

Welcome to the Starlite Motel and Shooting Star Grille!

The Starlite has a long history of serving tourists and residents of Las Vegas, Nevada. It first opened its doors in 1962, and has since undergone many changes — most notably our colorful exterior. (We’ve been pink since 2013, if you’re curious!) We’ve been serving up milkshakes and cheeseburgers at the diner for even longer. In fact, the Shooting Star Grille and I share a birthday. Don’t worry about the year; just trust me when I say it’s been a while.

We value our guests, so please don’t hesitate to let me know if you encounter any issues with your accommodations or the facilities during your stay. Please note that news notices from management are posted on the bulletin board in the reception office. I invite you to give them a read when you’re checking in.

(And for those of you here as residents — don't forget to pay your rent! Short-term residents pay weekly and long-term residents pay biweekly on Fridays.)
